Job description

Position Summary

The Equipment Operator works in the Habitat Division, assisting with pond construction and land management activities while collaborating with coworkers and supervisors to enhance clients' land & water resources. This role involves hands-on fieldwork, travel throughout the region, and close coordination with team members across the Pond, Habitat, and Lake Divisions. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, problem-solving in dynamic environments, and contributing to high-quality environmental management solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment, such as small backhoes, skidsteers, excavators, track loaders and chain saws.
  • Prepare, load and unload equipment and materials necessary for project completion.
  • Aids in the installation of materials and plantings.
  • Assists with conducting pesticide treatments for invasive species.
  • Assists with equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Cleans, maintains, and organizes equipment, materials, buildings and grounds
  • Collaborate with coworkers across divisions to support project completion
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to lift 85 lbs. or more
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying and inclement weather conditions
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel daily, with some overnight stays
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally with coworkers and clients
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to report to the Berlin, WI office location daily

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Wisconsin Aquatic and/or Natural Areas Commercial Pesticide Applicator License
  • Basic plumbing and/or electrical knowledge
  • Hazardous Materials Certification
  • Wisconsin Boater Safety Course (or comparable certification)
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
