Job description

The Solvere Technical Group is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Parts Room & Purchasing Specialist to join our team and oversee our inventory and procurement operations. In this pivotal hybrid role, you will be responsible for managing the parts room, maintaining accurate inventory levels, and sourcing materials to ensure our operations run smoothly and cost-effectively.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Parts Room Management:

  • Receive, inspect, and stock incoming parts and supplies, ensuring accurate quantities and optimal quality.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records and reports. Provide packing slips, invoices and receipts as required.
  • Identify and stock material in designated locations.
  • Organize and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient parts room according to standard warehouse procedures.
  • Dispense parts and tools to technicians, maintaining precise checkout logs and transaction records.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventory audits to verify stock accuracy and prevent stock-outs.
  • Parts runs and deliveries within the Hampton Roads area as required.

Purchasing & Procurement:

  • Monitor inventory usage and trends to forecast future demand and determine reorder points.
  • Process purchase requisitions and release purchase orders to suppliers following company approval.
  • Source new vendors, request quotes, and compare prices to ensure the best combination of quality, cost, and lead times.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and terms with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Track shipments, coordinate inbound and outbound freight, and expedite delayed or critical orders.
  • Verify packing slips and invoices, resolving any pricing or shipment discrepancies with accounts payable.
  • Assist as required with developing detailed, accurate labor, material, and equipment estimates for maintenance, overhaul and upkeep of various boats/shop work and repairs to be accomplished on Government and Commercial vessels using drawings and specifications and on-site ship checks for interference and access problems.
  • Solicit and evaluate price quotations from subcontractors and rental equipment providers.
  • Assist with preparing estimates in strict compliance with Company standards and policies; providing feedback on such standards and policies when experience suggests a need for deviation or change.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records and reports.

EDUCATION:

  • Four (4) years directly related experience
  • HS diploma.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is preferred but not required.

REQUIRED EXERIENCE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Read and interpret technical drawings, parts lists and statements of work.
  • Organization: Strong multitasking and time-management skills with a sharp eye for detail.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for dealing with suppliers and internal staff.
  • Make decisions concerning interpretation of work item specifications. Write inquiries to customers, as required, for clarification of requirements.
  • Generate thorough and accurate bills of materials for estimating purposes.
  • Clean driving record is required.
  • Collaborate with the team performing mechanical repairs and maintenance.
  • Experience and certification as a forklift operator is desired, ability to obtain certification and operate a forklift upon hire is required.
  • Familiarity with boats and boat parts is desired but not required.

ADA Notations:

  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to be able to work in maintenance shop environment
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions.
  • Job may require bending, stooping, lifting, and will be in an environment of low and high temperatures

SECURITY REQUIREMENS:

  • Must pass a standard background check and have or able to obtain a Confidential Clearance

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel will occur up to 10% of the time within the Hampton Roads metropolitan area for parts pickup and deliveries, no overnight travel required.

Hourly Range: $30.00 to $35.00
