Description

Reports to: Director of Ops, General Manager, Assistant Managers and Supervisors

A Shift Captain (SC) is an expert at the daily shift activities of a work shift. The SC helps coordinate the daily operations of a shift and ensures that customers receive outstanding service. The SC supports shift staff, filling in and assisting with scheduling issues, taking orders, handling cash, and reporting any shift issues to Management. The SC position is not a management position, and the SC does not manage employees.

Essential Job Functions of the SC include:

  • Support shift operations including food prep, preparing food, taking orders, cleaning, etc.
  • Ensure shift duties are performed efficiently and on time. Report any shift or employee issues to management daily.
  • Be a champion of customer service.
  • Retail products and promotions in stores and to customers.
  • Open and close registers and prepare cash deposits.
  • Handle cash and secure all safe funds.
  • Count beginning or end of shift receipts and enter in POS system.
  • Receive and distribute products and supplies to the stores.
  • Assist with stocking and reorganizing product items in the store.
  • Assist with monthly inventory and track purchase orders of products and supplies from vendors.
  • Ensure that stores are kept clean and neat. Assist with store cleanup regularly.
  • Cover breaks and time-off requests as needed.
  • Train new employees on store policies and procedures, cash handling and daily store operations.
  • Ensure stores are open according to established hours of operation. With management approval, adjust accordingly for flight schedule changes or weather-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards.
  • Other duties as required by the position or by management.

  • Customer Service/Salesmanship: Consistently effective and pays attention to customer's needs.
  • Requires the ability to speak in English clearly, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers.
  • Cash Handling/Sales Transactions: Handles cash and sales transactions with care and accuracy.
  • Store Operations: Is dependable and conscientious about performing tasks. Inform Management about shift or employee issues that arise in the store.
  • Communication: Communicates effectively and listens well.
  • Teamwork/Interpersonal Skills: Is cooperative and helpful. Offers help and assistance and can be counted on. Interacts well with others.
  • Conduct: Is friendly and even-tempered. Performs consistently and effectively under pressure.
  • Product Handling/Stocking: Handles all products and supplies in a safe and sanitary manner. Distributes the product and supplies efficiently according to store's requisition/stock list.
  • Company Policies and Procedures: Regularly adheres to policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Must be able to bend, twist and stand for extended periods to perform job functions.
  • Must have the ability to lift and push objects weighing over 40 lbs.
  • Follows safety rules provided in the TGI Safety Manual along with other TGI policies and procedures.
  • Reports any safety hazards to management immediately.
