Juneau

Our Whale Watching Boat Captains are responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism and compliance among the crew and must demonstrate excellent customer service, local knowledge, effective guiding skills, and understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures as specified by the FMCSA.

Essential Job Functions
  • Vessel operation and maintenance
  • Leading the crew in guiding the tour
  • Building a culture of performance excellence
  • Help with sheduled maintenance and repairs
  • Maintianing logs and Compliance reporting
  • Supporting the marine mechanic

The ideal candidate will have 5-plus years experience as a 50T marine captain.. The candidate must exhibit a passion for whales and wildlife, and have an engaging personality. As a peer leader, the candidate will lead by example and motivate through clear and regular communication with crew, mechanics and others.

Additional requirements
  • Familiar with Coast Guard regulations
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Mminimum 50T Captains liscense
  • 5 years of proven tour guide experience with references
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays and on-call rotations

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry the same for short distances up and down stairs and steep inclines. Ability to sit in awkward positions for long periods, standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching and climbing up and over various equipment.
