Description
The Bluegrass Station Division is hiring a Construction Superintendent I position that superintends projectsfor the construction, renovation, and/or major repair of habitable buildings, other structures, facilities andimprovements for an agency.Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Inspects Bluegrass Station (BGS) facilities to document overall building deficiencies or assess the desirability of alterations or improvements to include foundations, walls, floors, windows, doors, roof repairs and replacement, etc.
  • Provides input to BGS management to develop BGS priorities for capital construction for renovations, repairs and improvements.
  • Develops plans, writes scope of work, specifications and estimates for projects by reviewing plans, blueprints and specifications.
  • Acts as liaison between contractors and persons responsible for design.
  • Assists with other trades as required.
  • Contracts with and supervises trades and craft personnel on a project by project basis.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of components of projects.
  • Inspects project progress and makes status reports to management during weekly staff meetings.
  • Requires contractors to repair work not meeting specifications.
  • Responsible for making sure contractors meet OSHA requirements for work performed.
  • Procures materials within state policy and BGS procedures.
  • Responsible for supervision of several projects simultaneously, interpreting and enforcing project specifications IAW state law/BGS policy/contractual agreements.
  • Manages all paperwork for purchase requests, work orders and invoices to completion of the job.
  • Inspects building leaks, roofs, walls, windows, etc. to determine source of leak and meets with appropriate contractor to determine the repairs needed.
  • Processes all necessary paperwork such as required bids and quotes.
  • Obtains all required approvals, processing BGS required purchase orders and completing the work orders in an acceptable timeframe.
  • Works alongside the Deputy Director of BGS designated lock and key system.
  • Builds and installs cores, peripheral hardware and cuts keys as requested.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Three years of experience as construction estimator, general contractor, architect, engineer, construction superintendent, in construction trades or in supervising one or more trades crews in major construction, or major renovation or major maintenance repair projects.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Additional experience as listed above will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

Employee will be exposed to noise, dirt, temperature variances and other conditions inherent to construction sites.
