About Scott Coatings

Scott Coatings is a commercial and industrial coatings contractor serving the Pacific Northwest. We are building a high-performance estimating function anchored in clear standards, disciplined use of Bluebeam, Sage, and SharePoint, and a culture of ownership and accountability. Our team members are expected todemonstrate competence, document their work, and grow through a structured development pathway including AMPP, ASPE, and Talent LMS coursework.

About the Role

The Estimator produces accurate, timely, and complete estimates per Scott Coatings standards. This seat executes the Scott Coatings preconstruction process, owns assigned bids from invitation through handoff, and develops technical and commercial estimating proficiency through a structured 90-day onboarding plan and annual training roadmap. This is a development-track role with a clear progression path to Senior Estimator for candidates who meet documented performance standards.

What You Will Own
  • Perform quantity takeoffs in Bluebeam per Scott Coatings standards.
  • Build detailed estimates including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Complete the Scott Coatings precon checklist on every bid, including Bond Requests, without reminders.
  • Maintain bid files in SharePoint per Scott Coatings naming and folder conventions.
  • Enter margins in PMS and Sage accurately and on time.
  • Participate in estimate reviews with the Chief Estimator before submission.
  • Participate in preconstruction handoff meetings with Project Managers and Superintendents.
  • Complete all milestones in the 90-day onboarding plan and annual training roadmap (AMPP, ASPE, Talent LMS).
What We Are Looking For
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial estimating experience, or demonstrated progression through a structured development plan.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam. Bluebeam is the non-negotiable Scott Coatings takeoff standard.
  • Working knowledge of construction documents, specifications, addenda, and RFI interpretation.
  • Willingness to commit to the documented Scott Coatings 90-day onboarding plan and annual training roadmap.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and written communication.
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, engineering, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, industry credentials (CPE, AMPP, PDCA), and estimating experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASPE membership and commitment to work toward CPE credential.
  • AMPP coatings-specific foundational coursework.
  • Prior experience with commercial painting, coatings, or related specialty contracting.
