Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP) is a tuition-free, public charter school in Somerset, New Jersey serving grades Kindergarten through 12th. Hiring for School Year 2026-2027

English Special Education Teacher 

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student's strengths and needs. 
  • Modify English curriculum materials and assessments to meet students' individualized goals.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and assistive technologies to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly; maintain accurate and timely records.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers,case managers , counselors, and families to support student success.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and growth.
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal special education laws and regulations.
  • Exhibits knowledge of performance-based instruction and assessment. 
  • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality.
  • Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures.
  • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent.
  • Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student's educational programs.
  • Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communication.
  • Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction.
  • Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven communication and instructional strategies
  • Classroom management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in related field
  • Valid NJ CE, CEAS, or Standard Teacher Certification with Special Education/and or English endorsement
  • NJ Criminal History
  • Work authorization in the U.S.
  • Tuberculosis Test
  • Experience is a plus.
