Job description

The Welder I is responsible for the general fabrication of mechanical parts. This position may also be asked to use pneumatic or electric hand tools to perform such tasks as deburr or surface prep of metal parts. This position must be able to follow both written and verbal work instructions as well as interface with the enterprise time keeping system as well as interface with machine controls. This position must also be able to use and read basic machine shop measuring equipment that includes, but may not be limited to dial calipers, tape measures, and protractors.
This position will take direction from the area lead or supervisor as required. Any and all work performed will be recorded in the enterprise system so that labor efficiency and utilization can be monitored.
MUST BE A US PERSON ELIGIBLE TO WORK FOR ANY EMPLOYER IN THE UNITED STATES
Minimum 3 years working in a fabrication environment doing a variety of assignments and tasks.
Able to grind metal in terms of prep work or deburr to verbal and written instructions
Able to apply basic use of hand and power tools
Able to read a tape measure and accurately mark or scribe locations within 1/16" (.062")
Basic knowledge of welding with some formal training in GMAW including an understanding of FCAW
Good understanding of basic weld symbols
Good understanding of basic blue print reading
Qualified in both a flat (1F and 1G) and horizontal (2F and 2G) positions
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a standard manufacturing environment. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, push, pull, grasp. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance and over 50 lbs. with assistance. Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. The worker has protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Subject to hazards including, electrical current, moving mechanical parts, chips, dust, exposure to chemicals, debris and intense heat.
