Position Summary

Blue Sky Hospitality Solutions is seeking an experienced Hotel Engineer to join the Engineering team at the award-winning EnVue, Autograph Collection in Weehawken, New Jersey.

This is not an apartment maintenance or commercial building maintenance position. We are looking for a hospitality professional with hotel engineering experience who understands the urgency of guest service, preventive maintenance, and maintaining luxury guestroom standards.

The Engineer is responsible for maintaining guest rooms, public areas, mechanical systems, and hotel equipment while ensuring a safe, comfortable, and exceptional guest experience. This position plays a critical role in minimizing guest room downtime, responding promptly to maintenance requests, and supporting Marriott brand standards.

Essential Responsibilities Guest Room Maintenance
  • Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and service calls.
  • Perform repairs in guestrooms, bathrooms, corridors, and public areas.
  • Repair doors, locks, windows, drywall, ceilings, flooring, and furniture.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PTAC units, HVAC systems, thermostats, plumbing fixtures, lighting, televisions, and appliances.
  • Ensure guestrooms meet Marriott quality standards before returning rooms to inventory.
Preventive Maintenance
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on guest rooms and hotel equipment.
  • Complete assigned PM work orders accurately and on time.
  • Inspect mechanical equipment and identify potential issues before failures occur.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate maintenance logs and equipment records.
  • Support asset preservation initiatives that extend equipment life and reduce costly repairs.

  • Report safety hazards immediately.
Teamwork
  • Work closely with Housekeeping to return guestrooms to service quickly.
  • Coordinate with Front Office regarding out-of-order rooms and guest requests.
  • Support Banquets, Food & Beverage, and other departments during events.
  • Participate in daily engineering meetings and shift handoffs.
  • Assist with hotel renovation and capital improvement projects.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of hotel engineering experience REQUIRED
  • Marriott hotel experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in a full-service hotel preferred
  • Strong knowledge of hotel mechanical systems
  • Experience using preventive maintenance programs
  • Ability to read work orders, maintenance manuals, and equipment specifications
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong guest service orientation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
