Job description

*DISCLAIMER: If you’re interested in working here, I need to be honest with you. We only hire and keep people who care about the work they’re doing and want to learn and grow. We want every person on our team to be constantly learning and trying to be better than the day before. We love to develop people who have a passion for growth and we feel that each individual is in control of how fast they move up and how much they get paid.
ARE YOU A GOOD FIT?
If you are a person who loves to learn and grow and be the best at what you’re doing, you might be a good fit for our team.

If you:

-Get satisfaction from being productive and taking pride in your craft

-Have a positive attitude and love to encourage and teach others

-Have a high level of integrity and treat others with respect

-Are sick of working for a disorganized company that isn’t taking care of you

Give us a call.
ABOUT OUR COMPANY
At Empire Building Construction, we care about our team more than our bottom dollar, and we show it to you on a regular basis. In 40 years of putting up buildings, we’ve never laid anyone off because of winter, slow times, or any other reason. First of all, we view this company as a family. If times get tough and food gets scarce, you don’t kick family to the curb at the first sign of trouble. Our team members are our most valuable asset and they are treated that way.
One way we show our team how much they mean, is by paying productivity bonuses on a per job basis. So, when the company makes extra money, the TEAM gets extra money in their pocket!

Our long history of treating our people like family and helping them grow has produced a team of dedicated and talented leaders. Our leadership team is composed of experienced and skilled construction professionals, who are among the best at what they do.

But...make no mistake. We are only looking for hard workers, who are interested in growing and honing their craft. We consider ourselves the best in the industry. And, to be the best, we must have the best people working for us.

ABOUT THE POSITION

As a Project Manager/Estimator, it will be your duty to deliver an awesome experience to our customers. It is our goal to make our customers so happy that they wouldn't do business with anyone else. To do that, we have to ask a lot of questions and do some digging to understand what the customer really wants and needs. Then we put together a unique design with drawings, specifications, and sometimes 3D renderings, along with a detailed estimate. If the customer then hires us to build their project, it is our job to complete the project with a high degree of quality, on schedule and under budget.

Typical duties include analyzing drawings, estimating, scheduling, cost tracking, ordering materials, contracting with subs, field visits, and problem solving. A large portion of your time will be spent coordinating with architects, subcontractors, material vendors, and customers. In addition to the "technical job duties", we want each of our PM's to develop and cultivate relationships with their clients. The best way to do this is by delivering an awesome experience for the customer during the course of their project. In addition to that, our PM's must also initiate consistent communication and interaction with their clients after projects are long completed. This could mean taking a box of donuts to your customer, taking them to lunch, playing nine holes, or whatever makes sense to stay in touch with them and develop the relationship.

Upon being hired, we will train you on the systems we use to manage projects. We utilize Blue Beam, ProEst, Smartsheet, Trimble/Spectrum, and Google Workspace for a majority of our estimating and project management tasks.

Our Industry "Niche"

Our bread and butter is pre-engineered metal buildings. We are an authorized Varco Pruden metal building dealer, however we can erect almost any brand of building. We also do a large amount of conventional steel bar joist/deck erection projects. While we act as the General Contractor on a majority of our projects, we also act as an erection or concrete subcontractor for roughly 25% of our projects. Most of our projects fall between $100,000 and $10,000,000. That may seem like an unusually wide range, but we are a pretty unique company. One month we might be doing a small re-sheet project for one customer and the next month we might be doing a 200,000SF warehouse for another.

REQUIREMENTS

You must be knowledgeable about the building construction process. That could mean years of construction experience or a construction management degree. You will have to be reasonably tech savvy and good at handling a lot of tasks at once. You must be detail oriented and organized.

WE OFFER:

-Job productivity bonuses in addition to your competitive hourly rate.

-Company vehicle, gas card, and cell phone

-Holiday Pay

-Vacation Pay

-Overtime

-401K up to 3%!

-Health Insurance/Dental/Vision

-Year-Round Employment, No layoffs!

-Regular education and training on becoming your best self. Company meetings, videos, articles, newsletters, etc. on improving all areas of your life!
