Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Nights | Rotating Weekends
Shift Structure: Thursday - Sunday Weekend Program Available
Compensation: $29.00 - $41.00/hour
Shift Differentials:
  • +$2/hour Evenings
  • +$3/hour Nights

Overview
A leading acute care hospital in the Kansas City metro area is seeking an experienced Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) with strong Blood Bank experience to join its overnight laboratory team. This role supports high-complexity testing and transfusion services within a fast-paced hospital laboratory environment serving diverse acute care patient populations.
The ideal candidate has recent acute care Blood Bank experience, strong technical laboratory skills, and the ability to function independently during overnight operations while supporting quality, compliance, and patient safety initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Perform waived, moderate, and high-complexity laboratory testing in accordance with CLIA and regulatory standards
  • Support Blood Bank and transfusion services operations within the acute care laboratory
  • Analyze blood and body fluid specimens while ensuring accuracy and quality control compliance
  • Investigate abnormal or unexpected laboratory results and determine appropriate follow-up actions
  • Maintain laboratory instrumentation, non-analytic equipment, and reagent inventory
  • Perform specimen processing, data entry, and test result reporting functions
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and laboratory workflow optimization
  • Assist with training and orientation of laboratory personnel and students as needed
  • Maintain compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory standards
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related science field
  • ASCP Medical Technologist certification or equivalent specialty certification
  • Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital Blood Bank experience
  • Strong understanding of transfusion services and laboratory quality standards
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced overnight hospital laboratory environment
Preferred
  • MLS (ASCP) certification
  • Multi-disciplinary acute care laboratory experience
  • Previous high-volume hospital laboratory experience
  • Experience training laboratory staff or students
