Job description

Location: Tampa, FL (hybrid, with regular in-office time expected given cross-team coordination)

Employment Type: Full-time

About Sourcetoad

Sourcetoad is a software engineering agency headquartered in Tampa, FL, building custom software for clients across healthtech, cruise and maritime, and enterprise SaaS.We're SOC 2 Type 2 and HIPAA-compliant, and a subsidiary of Thompson Holdings Inc. (THI), alongside Thompson Engineering, Thompson Consulting Services, and Watermark Architecture.

The Role

This is a hybrid role built on one core skill: pulling great information out of busy, smart people and turning it into polished, external-facing content, with AI as a genuine force multiplier, not a novelty.

The proposal half:

  • Monitor RFP activity across enterprise, state, local, and federal channels (SAM.gov, BidNet, GovWin, and more)
  • Build and run a qualification process so we focus only on winnable opportunities
  • Own responses from intake through submission, including writing, editing, version control, and coordinating internal reviewers and subject matter experts
  • Handle pre-sales meetings, clarification calls, and Q&A during live pursuits
  • Run debriefs on losses and feed lessons back into how we qualify and respond
  • Build a reusable content library (boilerplate, case studies, certifications, pricing language) that compounds over time
  • Partner with our sibling companies\' established proposal teams to learn their playbook and open the door to joint pursuits

The marketing half:

  • Support our Head of Marketing Communications on blog writing, editing, and case study production
  • Manage Sourcetoad\'s social media output, including scheduling, light copywriting, and engagement
  • Direct AI tools effectively to multiply output, while keeping everything sounding like Sourcetoad, not like AI

What We\'re Looking For

  • 3โ€“6 years of proposal, RFP, or capture experience, ideally combined with marketing or content production
  • Excellent writing and editing skills across formats: this is a role where the work product is words on a page
  • Genuine fluency with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) as part of your everyday drafting and research process
  • Comfort extracting information from busy senior technical and executive contributors
  • Strong project management instincts: you can juggle a deadline, a checklist, and a half-dozen contributors at once
  • Government contracting experience (state or federal) is a significant plus

Your First 90 Days

In your first 30 days, you\'ll get up to speed on what we sell, review our past RFP wins and losses, and start building relationships with the internal experts you\'ll rely on. By 60 days, you\'ll have a plan for how we source and qualify RFPs going forward, and you\'ll be building out our content library. By 90 days, you\'ll have led your first Sourcetoad RFP response from start to finish and have a marketing content cadence running.

Why Work at Sourcetoad

Sourcetoad is a software engineering agency headquartered in Tampa, FL, building custom software for clients across healthtech, cruise and maritime, and enterprise SaaS. We\'re SOC 2 Type 2 and HIPAA-compliant, which means the work we deliver holds up to real scrutiny from serious enterprise customers, not just a portfolio piece.

This role sits at the center of something we\'re rebuilding from the ground up, and that\'s a real opportunity. You won\'t be inheriting a rigid process with years of bureaucracy baked in. You\'ll be the person who builds our proposal function and helps define our marketing voice, with the freedom to shape both from day one and the visibility that comes with reporting directly to our Head of Marketing Communications.

You\'ll also have a built-in support system most people in this kind of role don\'t get. We\'re part of Thompson Holdings Inc. (THI), a family of companies that includes Thompson Engineering, Thompson Consulting Services, and Watermark Architecture, all of whom already have established, mature proposal functions. You won\'t be figuring this out alone. You\'ll learn from teams who\'ve done it well for years, and you\'ll build the kind of cross-company relationships that make your work more effective and your career more connected.

THI is also employee-owned, so when the company grows, that growth belongs to the people doing the work, not just outside shareholders. We back that up with a 401k with ESOP match and excellent benefits overall, on top of the day-to-day autonomy and support this role comes with.

We\'re also genuinely serious about AI as a tool, not a talking point. If you want to spend your days directing AI intelligently rather than grinding through boilerplate line by line, this is a place where that instinct is rewarded rather than viewed with suspicion.

And the work itself matters. Every proposal you help win and every piece of content you help create supports real growth for a company with real momentum, backed by a stable parent organization and a leadership team that\'s investing in this function because they believe in it. If you want ownership, mentorship from proven proposal teams, and a front-row seat to building something new, we\'d love to talk.
