Is it hard to get a job in blockchain programming?

Getting a job in blockchain programming can be competitive, but having strong coding skills in languages like Solidity or JavaScript, understanding blockchain concepts, and gaining experience through projects or certifications can improve your chances. Employers often look for familiarity with development tools and a solid understanding of cryptography and decentralized systems.

What is the difference between Blockchain Programming vs Blockchain Developer?

AspectBlockchain ProgrammingBlockchain Developer

Work EnvironmentWriting code, testing blockchain applicationsDesigning, developing, deploying blockchain solutions
Industry UsageFocus on coding and technical implementationBroader role including architecture and integration

Blockchain Programming primarily involves writing and testing code for blockchain applications, focusing on the technical implementation. Blockchain Developer encompasses a broader scope, including designing, developing, and deploying blockchain solutions, often requiring a mix of coding and system architecture skills. Both roles are essential in blockchain projects but differ in their focus and responsibilities.

What does a blockchain programmer do?

A blockchain programmer develops and maintains blockchain applications and smart contracts using programming languages like Solidity or JavaScript. They design secure, efficient code to facilitate decentralized transactions and often work with blockchain platforms such as Ethereum or Hyperledger. Strong coding skills, understanding of cryptography, and knowledge of blockchain protocols are essential for this role.

Is blockchain programming a good career?

Blockchain programming is a growing field with high demand for developers skilled in smart contract development, cryptography, and blockchain platforms like Ethereum and Hyperledger. It offers competitive salaries and opportunities for innovation, but requires continuous learning of new technologies and security practices.

Job description

Here's the bit about the opportunity:

As a Solution Architect in our Professional Services team, you own the technical delivery of Fireblocks implementations for the region's largest Banks and Financial Institutions. From deal close through to production, you lead architecture design, integration, and deployment on customer infrastructure. You also bring that delivery expertise into strategic pre-sales cycles, helping Sales win the deals you will go on to deliver.

You'll be:

  • Owning the transition from deal close to production, taking end-to-end accountability for the solutions delivered
  • Defining enterprise customers' setup with Fireblocks, including API integrations, security architecture, and architecture documentation
  • Steering complex integrations across core banking, custody, tokenisation, and Travel Rule through to production
  • Codifying reusable reference architectures, integration patterns, and playbooks to scale delivery across AMER
  • Acting as the bridge between Sales, Product, R&D, and customers to solve complex integration challenges
  • Supporting strategic pre-sales cycles with technical discovery and solution design
  • Ensuring operational excellence and a high standard of customer satisfaction throughout delivery

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience delivering post-sale implementations in complex enterprise or financial services environments
  • Experience with either blockchain, cryptography, or Web3 technologies, or with Banks, Financial Institutions, or enterprise financial systems. One is a must, both is a strong advantage
  • Software development experience and a hands-on technical mindset
  • Deep understanding of IT security and proven cloud experience
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture and best practices
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring engineers or architects and setting technical standards
  • Pre-sales exposure (solution architecture, sales engineering, or RFP support) is a plus
  • Excellent written and spoken English; Spanish and/or Portuguese a plus

It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and each compensation decision is dependent on each individual case. A reasonable base salary range estimate for this position is $205,000 to $268,000. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which for some roles may include a target bonus, a very competitive equity grant, and very generous benefits.

While we believe competitive compensation is a critical aspect of you deciding to join us, we do hope you also spend time considering why our mission and culture are right for you. We are creating something transformational here, and we hope you are as excited about the future as we are.
