Aquent is partnering with a pioneering financial institution at the forefront of digital asset innovation. This organization is actively building the future of finance, integrating cutting-edge blockchain technology to create secure, reliable, and scalable platforms for digital asset custody and tokenization. Their mission is to deliver robust and innovative solutions that empower clients in the evolving digital economy.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Engineer, Blockchain Platforms, to play a pivotal role in shaping the foundational infrastructure of this digital asset ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity to directly impact the security, scalability, and resilience of blockchain operations, working hands-on to integrate and build the core components that underpin next-generation financial services. Your expertise will be crucial in translating complex blockchain mechanics into enterprise-grade solutions, driving innovation and ensuring the integrity of custody and tokenization platforms.
What You Will Do
As a Senior Engineer, you will be a hands-on contributor, operating at the intersection of blockchain protocol mechanics and institutional custody systems. You will work closely with lead engineers and security experts to ensure all blockchain interactions are secure, reliable, observable, and production-ready. Your contributions will establish strong foundations for scalable digital-asset custody and tokenization platforms, ensuring predictable, observable, and resilient integrations.
  • Integrate institutional systems with existing Layer-1 blockchains, evaluating and extending capabilities to meet custody, scalability, and resiliency needs.
  • Deeply understand chain-level mechanics such as transaction lifecycle, finality, forks, reorgs, and event propagation to ensure reliable integrations under stress and production loads.
  • Design and build core blockchain infrastructure services, including indexers, event processors, block explorers, observability tooling, chain data services, APIs, and interoperability components.
  • Ensure blockchain data pipelines are accurate, performant, and auditable, supporting operational tooling for troubleshooting, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Contribute to wallet architecture and development, focusing on blockchain-facing wallet services, transaction creation, signing workflows, and submission pipelines.
  • Integrate with custody key management systems (MPC, HSMs, signing services), ensuring clean separation of protocol logic, security controls, and business rules.
  • Partner closely with custody and security engineers to validate end-to-end transaction flows and ensure wallet and transaction pipelines behave correctly across normal and edge-case chain conditions.
  • Share responsibility for custody-related blockchain workflows, including on-chain transaction execution, event monitoring, reconciliation, and chain-specific failure handling and recovery patterns.
  • Help define safe patterns for interacting with smart contracts and token standards from custody platforms, ensuring workflows align with custody policies, approvals, and risk controls.
  • Apply modern engineering practices to build reliable, testable, and observable blockchain services, leveraging AI tools to accelerate protocol analysis, code development, testing, documentation, and knowledge sharing while maintaining engineering rigor.

Your Impact and Success in this Role
  • Blockchain integrations are predictable, observable, and resilient.
  • Wallet and transaction pipelines behave correctly across normal and edge-case chain conditions.
  • Custody systems interact with blockchains safely and consistently.
  • Incidents related to blockchain dependencies are well understood and quickly diagnosed.

Must-Have Qualifications
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience building or integrating blockchain or distributed ledger systems.
  • Strong understanding of Layer-1 blockchain protocols and transaction lifecycles.
  • Experience building backend services, APIs, and infrastructure components.
  • Proficiency in one or more languages such as Go, Java, Rust, Python, or similar.
  • Ability to work effectively across custody, security, and platform teams.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience with blockchain indexers, explorers, or chain analytics systems.
  • Familiarity with wallet architecture and blockchain signing workflows.
  • Exposure to crypto custody platforms or security-sensitive financial systems.
  • Strong debugging instincts in distributed, asynchronous environments.
