Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

The Senior Technical Writing Specialist is responsible for creating, planning, writing and editing complex operational, instructional, interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs), maintenance or test procedures. This will entail documenting engineering processes and specifications by editing software developer and engineering staff's notes and procedures and applying formatting in order to support the writing and publication of hardware and software test procedures. Additionally, you'll work with junior writers providing feedback and critiquing work in order to help develop leadership skills, documentation skills and expertise with production tools and projects.

What you bring to the table:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Discipline (engineering, science, etc)
    • A minor in Technical Writing, English, Language Arts, Foreign Languages, etc. strongly preferred or a strong interest in these areas
  • Strong and demonstrated technical writing skills
  • Strong team leadership and organizational skills
  • Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools
  • Working knowledge of (or willingness to learn) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of (or willingness to learn) databases
  • Working knowledge of (or willingness to learn) Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat
  • Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) cabled undersea systems
  • Basic working skills and knowledge of (or willingness to learn) various high level, markup, scripting, etc. languages (Java, Python, XML, SQL, etc)
  • Experience working with large datasets is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to work within an established team structure

Please note, this is an onsite position and requires work to be done on site at our McLeansville, NC location. This position offers little to no opportunities for remote work.

Salary Note
This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
Combined Salary Range
USD $81,352.00 - USD $88,025.00 /Yr.
