What is Blender 3D Python scripting?

Blender 3D Python scripting refers to the process of writing Python code to automate tasks, create custom tools, or extend the functionality of Blender, a popular open-source 3D creation suite. Python is Blender's primary scripting language, allowing users to interact with virtually every aspect of the software, from modeling and animation to scene management. This scripting capability is widely used by artists, developers, and technical directors to streamline workflows, generate procedural content, or integrate Blender with other tools and pipelines.

How do Blender 3D Python scripting professionals typically collaborate with artists and designers in a production environment?

Blender 3D Python scripting professionals often work closely with artists and designers by developing custom tools, add-ons, or automation scripts that streamline repetitive tasks or enable new creative workflows. Effective communication is key, as script developers need to understand the creative team's requirements and translate them into practical solutions within Blender. Regular feedback sessions and testing cycles are common, ensuring that scripts are user-friendly and integrate smoothly into the production pipeline. This collaboration not only enhances productivity but also helps bridge the gap between technical and creative roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Blender 3D Python scripting specialist, and why are they important?

To excel in Blender 3D Python Scripting, you need strong skills in Python programming, a solid understanding of 3D modeling concepts, and experience working within the Blender environment. Familiarity with Blender's scripting API, version control systems like Git, and relevant certifications in 3D design or programming can be highly advantageous. Problem-solving abilities, creativity, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating with artists and developers on complex projects. These competencies are essential for efficiently automating tasks, customizing workflows, and delivering high-quality 3D content within production pipelines.

What is the difference between Blender 3D Python Scripting vs 3D Modeler?

Job description

Turning Space into a Transportation Layer for Earth
Who We Are:
Inversion builds advanced reentry systems to deliver next-generation capabilities from space.
Our mission is to make Earth radically more accessible by turning Low-Earth Orbit into an on-demand logistics domain. We see space not as a destination, but as a platform - one that unlocks unprecedented speed and global reach.
Our spacecraft are designed to deliver payloads anywhere on Earth in under an hour, operating through extreme reentry conditions and landing with high precision. These systems open the door to new ways of testing, delivering, and operating at hypersonic speeds.
Inherently dual-use, our technology is built to meet urgent national security needs while laying the groundwork for future commercial applications. Backed by leading investors including Y Combinator, Spark Capital, and Lockheed Martin Ventures, and working with partners such as the U.S. Space Force and NASA, Inversion is pushing the boundaries of what's possible in space-based defense and logistics.
About the Role
As a Front-end Engineer at Inversion, you will work as part of the simulation team to design, develop, and maintain the user interface/user experience (UI/UX) of the applications that support the simulation and test environments for our flight systems. The simulation team is responsible for ensuring that flight software and flight hardware can be continuously integrated and tested under realistic flight conditions. You will play a key role in the design and development of data visualization, data analysis, and self-service tools that will enable fast, repeatable development and deployment workflows across the engineering stack. Your work will empower Inversion's engineering teams to iterate rapidly throughout the development life cycle and will strengthen Inversion's ability to put our products into the hands of our customers with unprecedented speed and agility.
What You'll Do
  • Design, deploy, and maintain the client-side logic and interface of the applications that support simulation workflows, including high-performance computing (HPC), software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
  • Develop the front-end tech stack to ensure the performance and maintainability of our applications
  • Design and implement a front-end architecture that strikes the right balance between simplicity and flexibility
  • Design and develop the user interfaces (UI) that support simulation configuration, management, and monitoring
  • Work with back-end engineers to integrate the front-end with the back-end and deliver a smooth user experience (UX)
  • Contribute to the design and development of a simulation system capable of automatically provisioning and deploying resources to support simulation workflows

Required Qualifications
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Secret/Top Secret security clearance.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in front-end or full-stack development
  • Expertise in front-end engineering and best practices
  • Expertise with HTML/CSS
  • Expertise in React or Vue.js
  • Proficiency in UI/UX design
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Python, Lua, Bash, PowerShell, etc.)
  • Experience with one or more front-end architectures (monolithic, modular, micro front-ends, component-based, headless, Flux, etc.)
  • Experience with API architectures (REST, GraphQL, gRPC, WebSockets, Webhooks, etc.)
  • Experience with responsive design
  • Experience with Linux-based systems
  • Experience with modern DevOps practices
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, DynamoDB, InfluxDB, etc.)

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with tools for building web interfaces (Tailwind CSS, Radix UI, Shadcn UI, etc.)
  • Experience with data visualization (graphs, charts, 3D, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, etc.)
  • Familiarity with system observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Docker Compose, etc.)

Our office headquarters is located in Playa Vista, CA. This position requires in office presence.
