Job description

DESCRIPTION: (Including but not limited to)

Working within a team environment, the Blast Operator position is responsible for the blasting duties centered on ensuring parts to be coated are cleaned and prepped by customer specifications as contained within the work order.

 KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Will operate in machine blast operations, forcing abrasive material onto a component's surface through a nozzle.
  • Loads parts into sandblast equipment, maintains adequate supply of blast sand in hopper.
  • Configure and run blast machines in accordance with the customer’s specifications.
  • Collect materials, tooling, and blast products prior to initiating operation.
  • Use hand tools to repair, clean, and adjust equipment.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
  • Checks work visually, makes minor decisions; detects and reports defective items and unusual conditions to proper supervision.
  • Sand blasts parts following established methods and procedures to remove surface contaminants and imparts proper surface finish.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

WORK QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse facility
  • Proven proficiency in fundamental shop math, including handling fractions and decimals
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools for successful job performance
  • Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems in a logical and effective manner

 Required:

  • 2-5 years of Industrial Gas Turbine Repair experience
  • Basic computer skills

HS diploma or GED
