What is a Bitcoin Developer Live In?

A Bitcoin Developer Live In is a software developer who specializes in building, maintaining, and improving applications or infrastructure related to the Bitcoin blockchain, while residing onsite or within close proximity to the company or client. This role often involves creating wallets, payment systems, or smart contracts, and may require a deep understanding of cryptography and blockchain protocols. Living onsite can facilitate collaboration, faster troubleshooting, and tighter integration with the team or project. The position typically requires strong programming skills, especially in languages like C++, Python, or JavaScript, as well as knowledge of Bitcoin's core technologies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Bitcoin Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Bitcoin Developer, you need strong programming skills in languages like C++, Python, or Go, combined with a deep understanding of blockchain technology and cryptographic principles. Familiarity with Bitcoin Core, distributed ledger systems, and relevant APIs or SDKs is typically required, and certifications such as Certified Blockchain Developer can be advantageous. Problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and collaboration skills help developers navigate complex codebases and contribute effectively to decentralized projects. These competencies are essential for building secure, innovative solutions and maintaining the integrity of Bitcoin's protocol.

What are the typical collaboration practices for a Bitcoin Developer working in a live-in arrangement?

As a Bitcoin Developer in a live-in role, you'll often collaborate closely with other developers, security experts, and sometimes the product team within a shared living and working environment. This setup encourages real-time communication, rapid problem-solving, and frequent code reviews, which can accelerate project progress but may also require clear boundaries to maintain work-life balance. You'll likely participate in daily stand-ups, pair programming sessions, and occasional late-night troubleshooting, especially when managing live blockchain deployments or addressing urgent security issues. Proactive communication and flexibility are key to thriving in this immersive, team-oriented setting.

Job Overview:

The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and ongoing optimization of CleanSpark’s corporate network infrastructure across office and operational environments. This role owns the day-to-day operation and health of network systems, leads troubleshooting of complex connectivity and security issues, and drives infrastructure projects from planning through completion. The Network Engineer works closely with Corporate IT, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable network services. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with enterprise-grade networking platforms, a strong foundation in network security and VPN technologies, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision while contributing to a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and administer corporate network infrastructure, including switches, wireless access points, firewalls, VPN services, and related equipment across office and operational environments.

Own incident response for network alerts, service disruptions, and connectivity issues; coordinate resolution through monitoring platforms, ticketing systems, and direct stakeholder communication.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex Layer 1-3 network issues independently, applying structured diagnostic methodologies and root cause analysis.

Lead the installation, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of network hardware, including Meraki and UniFi platforms, firewalls, and supporting infrastructure.

Perform routine network health checks, system monitoring, log reviews, and preventative maintenance activities.

Support infrastructure lifecycle management, including firmware updates, patching, hardware replacements, and scheduled maintenance windows.

Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, inventories, configuration records, and change management documentation.

Ensure compliance with Corporate IT security standards, change management procedures, and configuration management policies.

Provide technical support through ticketing systems, Microsoft Teams, email, phone, and in-person interactions.

Administer and troubleshoot VPN connectivity, firewall policies, DHCP, DNS, wireless networking, and other network-dependent services; ensure security configurations align with Corporate IT standards.

Plan and execute network expansion projects, cabling initiatives, hardware deployments, and site infrastructure upgrades in alignment with Corporate IT project and change management standards.

Collaborate with Corporate IT, cybersecurity, and business teams to resolve issues and improve network performance and reliability.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of monitoring tools, operational processes, and technical documentation.

Maintain clear, accurate, and timely communication regarding incidents, requests, and project activities.

Additional duties as assigned.

This role requires professionalism, respect, strong communication, and the ability to work effectively with others in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience administering enterprise or corporate network environments, with demonstrated progression in scope and complexity of responsibilities.

Advanced working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, inter-VLAN routing, BGP/OSPF concepts, DHCP, DNS, QoS, wireless networking (802.11 standards), and VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL/TLS).

Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex network connectivity, performance, and security issues across Layers 1-3 using a structured methodology.

Demonstrated hands-on experience with enterprise networking platforms; direct experience with Cisco Meraki and/or Ubiquiti UniFi (switching, wireless, and security appliances) strongly preferred.

Experience using network monitoring, alerting, or ticketing systems to identify, document, and resolve technical issues.

Hands-on experience administering VPN solutions and firewall platforms, including policy creation, access rule management, site-to-site and remote access VPN configuration, and security baseline enforcement.

Proficiency with CLI-based network diagnostics, SSH, packet capture tools, and network management platforms; experience with scripting or automation (Python, Ansible, or similar) a plus.

Ability to maintain accurate technical documentation, network diagrams, inventories, and change records.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively support both technical and non-technical users.

Ability to operate with minimal supervision, manage competing priorities, and lead technical efforts independently within a collaborative team environment.

Industry certifications preferred; CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Meraki CMNO, or equivalent certifications are considered favorable. CCNP or security-focused certifications (CompTIA Security+, Fortinet NSE, or similar) are a plus.

Ability to work on-site and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 40 pounds, climbing ladders, installing equipment, and working in network closets or data center environments as needed.

Ability and willingness to travel to CleanSpark offices, mining sites, and other company locations as business needs require

$95,000 - $115,000 a year

This position may involve duties that require operation of a company vehicle or travel between job sites. As such, candidates must be insurable under CleanSpark’s vehicle insurance policy.
