Live. Work. Explore. We are hiring a park-wide Electrician as a part of our Engineering & Maintenance team in Yellowstone National Park!

From troubleshooting to preserving our rich history and being stewards of our iconic lodges, hands-on skills are needed to get the job done right. Job Summary:

The park-wide Electrician is a full-time, year-round position and is based out of Mammoth Hot Springs. This position is responsible for overseeing the proper operation, testing, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems in Xanterra-assigned facilities including industrial, commercial, and residential systems. The Details:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $30.05/hourly
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the proper operation, testing, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems in Xanterra-assigned facilities including industrial, commercial, and residential systems.
  • Assist with opening/closing of park wide Xanterra facilities to ensure proper procedures are followed and provide on-call assistance as needed.
  •  Perform, track, and report work associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of structures and equipment, using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and work order logs.
  • Use the appropriate tools and materials needed for the completion of work orders in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Developeng and provide electrical safety training for seasonal electricians and all maintenance personnel.
  • Reviewing capital project electrical designs and construction drawings for code compliance, operability, maintainability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with location maintenance storekeepers and the Maintenance Purchasing Agent to ensure appropriate inventory levels of electrical parts and supplies are established, maintained, and accurately captured in the company’s CMMS.
  • Assist in the development, periodic review and continuous improvement of PM’s and procedures.
  • Ensure electrical installations, repairs and replacements accomplished by Xanterra staff or electrical contractors meet applicable electrical codes, NPS compliance, and best practices.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with limited supervision, and willing to occasionally work overtime and/or nights.

Qualifications
  • Hold a valid Journeyman, Master Electrician, or Electrical Contractor license
  • Exhibit expertise in the interpretation and practical application of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills demonstrated by previous employment, education, or hobbies
  • Ability to mentor and train less experienced Maintenance staff
  • Innovation, professional curiosity, patience, and tenacity when faced with new or perplexing issues
  • Be receptive to training and be able to quickly acquire new skills and knowledge
  • Proficient Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, Maximo)
  • Flexibility to adjust to new situations or changes in assignments or procedures
  • A working knowledge of applicable NEC, OSHA, NFPA, and National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standards, including the ability to recognize and correct unsafe work practices or equipment installations which do not meet Code

Physical Requirements include:

  • This position may require the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations
  • May require work in confined spaces and permit-required confined spaces
  • Able to walk up to a half mile over uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, stand, bend, kneel and crawl in all types of weather conditions at elevations exceeding 6,000 ft.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Possess physical stamina to perform heavy labor in an outside environment
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess a current, valid driver's license with a good driving record
