R&D Scientist - Advanced Biomaterial Research

We are seeking an R&D Scientist focused on Advanced Biomaterial Research to serve as a scientific leader within our organization. This role is designed for a deeply technical expert who can translate advanced microbiological research into practical, scalable solutions within regulated manufacturing environments. You will help shape next-generation control materials and biomaterials that support pharmaceutical, biopharma, and diagnostic markets.
To Be Considered for This Position, Candidates Must Have the Following Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related life science discipline,
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in applied molecular or microbiological research
  • Extensive hands-on experience in molecular biology, including genetic engineering and molecular characterization, with the ability to design and interpret experiments at both gene- and systems-level scales; familiarity with genomics or other omics-based approaches preferred.
  • Experience operating in BSL-2 laboratory environments; additional containment experience is a plus.
  • Experience working within regulated or quality-driven development environments supporting biological products.
  • Demonstrated ability to author and review technical documentation, laboratory protocols, risk assessments, and scientific reports

Scientific Expertise and Innovation
  • Lead research initiatives in microbiology and molecular biology to develop next-generation control materials and biomaterials used across broad clinical and industrial markets.
  • Apply expertise in genetic engineering, cloning, and molecular characterization to design and evaluate biological materials for use in emerging and highly sensitive assay platforms. assay platforms.
  • Serve as a technical resource in the selection, characterization, and application of microorganisms and biomaterials for regulated product development.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging scientific and regulatory trends relevant to microbiological and molecular control materials

Development, Validation, and Tech Transfer
  • Design and oversee characterization studies, risk assessments, and validation strategies for new products and biomaterials
  • Document research activities to support design controls, verification, validation, scale-up, and technology transfer into GMP manufacturing
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless transition from research to commercial production

Regulatory, Quality, and Industry Engagement
  • Author and review technical documentation including risk assessments for handling risk-group II and III agents
  • Support sterility assurance programs and biopharma contamination control strategies
  • Participate in industry committees, standards development activities, white papers, and scientific presentations to advance Microbiologics' mission
