This leader will be responsible for further maturing procurement as a scalable enterprise capability and trusted business partner that supports the company's continued growth across R&D, Clinical, Manufacturing, Commercial, IT, and Corporate functions.

This position is ideal for a procurement leader who thrives in fast-paced, growth-oriented, and highly collaborative environments. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in procurement operations, strategic sourcing, supplier governance, process improvement, and procurement transformation within biotechnology or pharmaceutical organizations.

The Head of Procurement will play a critical leadership role in advancing and scaling the company's procurement infrastructure, operating model, governance processes, and supplier management capabilities to support organizational growth and operational maturity.

The organization has already established foundational procurement processes, governance frameworks, systems, and transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will inherit a capable procurement team and an established transformation roadmap, building upon these foundations to further mature, optimize, and scale procurement capabilities across the enterprise while preserving business agility and enabling continued growth.

This includes leading the ongoing evolution of procurement tools, policies, workflows, intake processes, approval frameworks, supplier governance, and spend management practices that improve scalability, efficiency, compliance, and business partnership across the organization.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Leadership

  • Evolve and execute an enterprise-wide procurement strategy aligned with RVMD's clinical, manufacturing, commercial, and corporate objectives.

  • Lead the continued maturation of the company's procurement operating model, sourcing governance, category management, and supplier management programs across enterprise spend categories.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on supplier strategy, risk mitigation, operational scalability, and value creation opportunities.

  • Drive adoption of procurement as a company-wide capability by building strong stakeholder partnerships and positioning procurement as a trusted business partner for sourcing, supplier, and spend management decisions.

Procurement Governance & Transformation

  • Assess, enhance, and scale existing procurement policies, procedures, governance frameworks, approval processes, and operating practices to support organizational growth, operational efficiency, and evolving business needs.

  • Partner with procurement team members and business stakeholders to mature and optimize existing procurement capabilities, ensuring solutions remain scalable, practical, and aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Strengthen procurement governance, sourcing policies, supplier risk management practices, spend management standards, and approval frameworks across the organization.

  • Lead the evolution of the procurement operating model through implementation and optimization of procurement technologies, intake-to-procure processes, workflow automation, supplier governance, analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Balance governance, compliance, scalability, and business agility while supporting the evolving needs of a growing clinical- and commercial-stage biotechnology organization.

  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, Information Security, and business stakeholders to support third-party risk management, supplier due diligence, and ongoing monitoring of critical suppliers.

  • Provide oversight and guidance to support alignment of international procurement processes with HQ procurement standards, governance, systems, and control expectations, while recognizing that local execution and market-specific requirements may be managed locally.

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

  • Provide leadership and oversight across direct and indirect procurement activities, partnering with category and procurement team members to develop category strategies, strengthen supplier governance, and support evolving business requirements.

  • Partner with Clinical Operations, Commercial Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, and other business functions to support strategic sourcing and supplier governance for CROs, CMOs/CDMOs, laboratory services, and other critical outsourced operations.

  • Lead strategic sourcing activities, including supplier market assessments, RFx processes (RFI, RFP, RFQ), commercial negotiations, supplier selection, contracting support, and supplier onboarding.

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and oversee supplier performance management, business reviews, supplier risk management, and escalation resolution.

  • Drive value creation through cost savings, cost avoidance, supplier consolidation, supplier innovation, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency initiatives.

Operations & Team Leadership

  • Enhance and scale procurement intake, sourcing, supplier onboarding, supplier management, and purchasing processes to support the evolving needs of the organization.

  • Develop and evolve procurement dashboards, metrics, and KPI reporting to measure savings, supplier performance, compliance, cycle times, and operational effectiveness.

  • Ensure procurement activities, supplier decisions, and documentation comply with internal policies, audit requirements, and regulatory expectations.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team while assessing future organizational needs and expanding procurement capabilities aligned with company growth.

  • Partner with the procurement team and key stakeholders to refine and advance the procurement operating model, organizational structure, and capability roadmap required to support RVMD's long-term growth.

  • Serve as the escalation point for critical supplier, operational, and stakeholder issues.

Required Skills, Experience and Education
