Job description

Partnology โ€” Biotech Executive Search & Venture Support Intern

Location: San Diego-based

Type: Internship, part-time

Industry: Biotechnology, Executive Search, Venture Capital, Company Creation

Reports to: Partnology Leadership Team

This is an ideal role for a scientifically curious, organized, and entrepreneurial intern who wants to understand how biotech companies are built from the inside โ€” not just the science, but the people, investors, systems, and strategy required to turn breakthrough ideas into high-performing companies.

About Partnology

Partnology is a boutique executive search and investment firm focused on building and supporting early-stage therapeutics companies. We work closely with biotech founders, CEOs, investors, and venture-backed companies to identify world-class leadership talent, support company creation, and provide market intelligence across the biotech ecosystem.

Our work sits at the intersection of executive search, venture capital, biotech strategy, and company building. We are looking for an intern who is curious, organized, intellectually sharp, and excited to learn how early-stage biotech companies are built.

Role Overview

The Partnology Intern will support a range of research, marketing, systems, and operational projects across the firm. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in biotechnology, venture capital, startups, executive search, AI-enabled workflows, and strategic business development.

A scientific background is strongly preferred, especially in biology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, neuroscience, immunology, oncology, chemistry, bioengineering, or a related life sciences field. The ideal candidate will be comfortable reading about biotech companies, understanding therapeutic areas and modalities, and turning complex information into clear, useful insights.

Key Responsibilities

Biotech Market Research & Company Cataloging

Support deeper research on early-stage and venture-backed biotech companies, including:

  • Cataloging companies by therapeutic area, modality, stage of development, technology platform, and lead programs
  • Tracking emerging biotech companies, company launches, financings, leadership changes, and major scientific milestones
  • Supporting business development research by identifying companies that may be relevant for future executive search, advisory, or investment relationships

Social Media & Marketing Support

Help Partnology strengthen its voice and visibility with biotech CEOs, founders, executives, and venture capital partners by supporting:

  • Drafting and organizing LinkedIn content for company and leadership profiles
  • Turning internal insights, market research, and biotech trends into short-form social media posts
  • Helping identify timely topics for thought leadership, including company launches, financing trends, executive movement, and leadership themes
  • Organizing content calendars and tracking post performance
  • Assisting with newsletter or market update drafts
  • Supporting brand consistency across social media, website content, and outbound communications

AI Tools & Internal Systems Optimization

Support the team in using modern AI and publicly available tools to improve speed, quality, and organization across internal workflows, including:

  • Researching and testing publicly available AI tools that could improve research, marketing, scheduling, CRM hygiene, candidate mapping, or workflow automation
  • Helping document repeatable internal processes and improve standard operating procedures
  • Assisting with Salesforce data hygiene, tagging, list building, and structured research inputs
  • Supporting the creation of templates, checklists, prompts, and workflows that help the team work more efficiently
  • Helping identify repetitive tasks that could be improved through automation or AI-enabled systems
  • Organizing internal knowledge bases, research folders, candidate/company lists, and project trackers
  • Supporting light data entry, database updates, and quality checks across internal systems

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, bioengineering, neuroscience, pharmacology, business, healthcare, or a related field
  • Strongly interested in biotechnology, startups, venture capital, and company creation
  • Comfortable reading scientific and business information and summarizing it clearly
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
  • Curious about how AI tools can improve business workflows
  • Strong written communicator with good judgment and professional tone
  • Comfortable working independently and asking thoughtful questions
  • Able to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Interested in social media, content creation, market research, and/or executive recruiting
  • Excited by fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Scientific or life sciences background strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with biotech therapeutic areas and modalities
  • Experience using LinkedIn, Google Workspace, Notion, Airtable, Salesforce, Excel/Google Sheets, or similar tools
  • Experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, or other research/productivity platforms
  • Prior internship experience in biotech, healthcare, venture capital, consulting, recruiting, marketing, or research preferred but not required
  • Strong ability to synthesize information from company websites, press releases, SEC filings, clinical trial databases, investor materials, and public sources

What You Will Learn

This internship offers exposure to:

  • How early-stage biotech companies are formed, funded, and scaled
  • How executive search works for C-level biotech roles
  • How to analyze biotech companies by therapeutic area, modality, stage, and leadership need
  • How AI tools can be applied to business development, research, marketing, and internal operations
  • How boutique professional services firms build brand, credibility, and market intelligence

Example Projects

The intern may support projects such as:

  • Building a database of West Coast therapeutics companies by modality and therapeutic area
  • Creating a weekly biotech market intelligence brief
  • Drafting LinkedIn posts from internal research insights
  • Mapping C-level executives across venture-backed oncology or immunology companies
  • Testing AI tools for research automation and internal workflow improvement
  • Creating structured company profiles for business development outreach
  • Supporting a conference target list for biotech CEOs, investors, and founders
  • Helping organize a database of emerging biotech companies raising seed, Series A, or Series B financing

Compensation

Compensation, academic credit, or hourly structure to be determined based on experience, availability, and internship format.
