Job description

Position Title: Research Associate III

Full Time, Exempt Employee

Job Summary:

Yecuris’ cutting-edge liver-humanized animal models and services provide researchers with actionable insights at the cellular, tissue, and animal level. Our mission is to help biotech, pharmaceutical, and academic clients make discoveries important to human health and quality of life.

The R&D Group is responsible for developing and validating new applications and services for the Company to offer to our clients. The primary purpose of the Research Associate III is to develop and independently complete biomedical research projects with a focus on in vitro culture products and services.

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for planning and executing research projects with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Make scientific contributions to experimental design, troubleshooting, and the development of new research ideas.
  • Perform technical in vitro and in vivo procedures including:
    • Hepatocyte isolation and culture, ELISA, flow cytometry, and qPCR; and
    • Work directly with animals: performing dosing, xenotransplantation, blood and tissue sampling, post-mortem tissue harvest, collecting and recording data and monitoring animal health.
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Prepare and present technical reports, summaries, and quantitative analyses to a diverse audience including senior management.
  • Mentor and train other in areas of expertise.
  • Assist in delivering outcomes with a high degree of autonomy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline with 4+ years of research experience, prior industry experience and/or a graduate degree a plus.
  • Must have expertise in cell culture with some combination of proficiency in flow cytometry, ELISA, histology, and/or molecular biology.
  • Prior experience in 2-D and 3-D culture systems and/or hepatocyte culture is highly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience working with rodent models is a plus.
  • Proficiency with use of Microsoft Office including Word/Excel/Power Point.
  • Prior experience with project management, statistical and graphical software programs is highly preferred.
  • Be a self-driven team player with excellent communication, leadership, and motivational skills.
  • Immunization against Hepatitis B virus or ability to become immunized

Work Environment:

This position involves duties in a laboratory and controlled Specific Pathogen-Free setting, including light exposure to hazardous materials.

  • Must be able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for long periods
  • Able to bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to perform in an environment with exposure to rodents, animal dander, animal byproducts, and bedding materials
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks that require extensive use of hands and wrists
  • Ability to lift at least 40lbs
  • Must be vaccinated against Hepatitis B virus with protective titer or willing to become vaccinated.
