Job description

OUR TEAM: The Protein Purification Team at Promega manufactures proteins and other reagents that are critical to our life science products, which support research and health applications worldwide. YOUR ROLE: As a member of our Protein Purification Team, you will manufacture a diverse array of products essential to Promega's product portfolio. You will conduct QC assays to verify that these proteins meet quality specifications and perform as expected. Beyond your core manufacturing duties, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve production challenges, drive process improvements, and support the launch of new products. This role offers a direct opportunity to impact both the quality of our products and the efficiency of our processes as we continue to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve.


CORE DUTIES: 
1. Independently manufactures a variety of products to meet product specifications. Follows production schedules and plans production batches to ensure on-time delivery of finished product. Responds to changing needs or priorities of the business.
2. Performs assays to ensure that products meet existing quality control requirements. This includes evaluation of raw materials when necessary. Performs troubleshooting by conducting technical assessments of products and makes recommendations to appropriate person/team/area/etc.
3. Designs experiments to problem solve and improve existing manufacturing and QC processes. Implements experimental design and perform data analysis. Use all available scientific and technical resources to recommend solutions and solve problems.
4. Participates in multidisciplinary product improvement or development teams by providing information and technical support to meet team goals. May help develop project plans for work area and analyze operational and cost impacts of process/product improvements. Communicates project updates and issues to supervisor. Interacts as needed with Marketing, QA, and R&D personnel to identify customer requirements for new products and process improvements.
5. Demonstrates an understanding of quality requirements that relate to both business needs and regulatory standards. Demonstrates good documentation practices and consistently produces quality products and documentation. Follows existing policies for data recording and record keeping.
6. Writes, reviews, and revises protocols and SOPs for clarity, appropriate technical content, process improvements, scale-up, and/or raw material changes.
7. Demonstrates inclusion through their own words and actions and is accountable for a safe workspace. Acts with kindness, curiosity and respect for others.
8. Embraces and is open to incorporating Promega’s 6 Emotional & Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles in daily work.
9. Understands and complies with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:  
1. D., B.S., or M.S. degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology). Degree and 5+ years of postgraduate lab experience in industrial manufacturing operations as reflected in a proven record of accomplishment in the Core Duties of this position are used to determine qualification.
2. Documented record of accomplishment in experimental design and problem solving relevant to this position.
3. Ability to interpret and communicate scientific results and interact productively with others on the team. Independently solves interpersonal conflicts and contributes to achievement and success of a team.
4. Excellent multi-tasking skills, ability to effectively work on several projects and/or products.
5. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
6. Ability to use a computer/Microsoft Office applications.

7. Demonstrated proficiency in digital tools and technology, including Microsoft applications and mobile platforms, with the ability to adapt and leverage emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to improve efficiency, automation, and collaboration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  
1. Prior industry experience.
2. Experience with ISO 9001 or cGMP Quality System requirements (e.g. complaint investigation, nonconformance, change control).
3. Experience with use of computers for collection and analysis of experimental data.
4. Is a self-starter, creative, and capable of initiating and implementing methods to accomplish the requirements of this position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  
1. Ability to work at a laboratory bench for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to work with hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals, radioactivity, electrical equipment) so as not to endanger oneself or others.
3. Ability to use standard laboratory protective equipment.
