Job description

Job summary
BostonGene is seeking a highly motivated VP, Biopharma Sales, to drive growth across pharmaceutical and biotechnology organizations in North America.
The ideal candidate combines scientific curiosity, commercial drive, and a strong understanding of oncology drug development. This individual will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strategic customer relationships, expanding adoption of BostonGene's platform and services, and contributing to the development of a high-performing commercial organization through mentorship and leadership.
This is a consultative sales role requiring the ability to engage scientific and executive stakeholders in meaningful discussions around precision medicine, translational research, biomarkers, and clinical development. Success in this role requires someone who can listen, learn quickly, build trust, and create value for customers facing complex development challenges. As a senior commercial leader, this individual will also help attract, mentor, and develop commercial talent while fostering a collaborative, customer-focused culture.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the commercial strategy for assigned pharmaceutical and biotechnology accounts, ensuring alignment with BostonGene's long-term growth objectives.
  • Own revenue performance, pipeline development, forecast accuracy, and strategic account planning within assigned territory or business segment.
  • Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Biomarker Strategy, Precision Medicine, Medical Affairs, Computational Biology, and Executive Leadership functions, serving as a trusted advisor to senior customer leaders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer objectives, clinical development programs, and scientific challenges to position BostonGene solutions effectively.
  • Lead complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders, technical evaluations, proposal development, contract negotiations, and executive presentations.
  • Identify and prioritize high-value market opportunities, customer segments, and partnership strategies to accelerate business growth.
  • Collaborate closely with Executive Leadership, Scientific, Medical, Product, and Delivery teams to align commercial activities with company objectives, market needs, and successful project execution.
  • Serve as a commercial leader within the organization, helping shape go-to-market strategy, account prioritization, pricing, customer engagement models, and overall commercial strategy.
  • Provide leadership in strategic account reviews, business planning, and commercial operating processes to ensure consistent execution and growth.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop commercial talent as the organization grows.
  • Represent BostonGene at industry conferences, scientific meetings, and customer events.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of oncology drug development trends, precision medicine, biomarker strategies, and the competitive landscape.
  • Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support product development, commercial strategy, and future growth initiatives.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Immunology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline. Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, MS) preferred but not required.
  • 12+ years of successful sales, business development, account management, or commercial leadership experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, CRO, precision medicine, or oncology-focused organizations.
  • Demonstrated success driving commercial growth and developing strategic partnerships for complex scientific, technology-enabled, or data-driven solutions.
  • Working knowledge of oncology drug development, clinical trials, translational medicine, biomarkers, and precision medicine.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Precision Medicine, Medical Affairs, Research, and Commercial organizations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear business value for both scientific and executive audiences.
  • Experience recruiting, mentoring, and developing commercial talent preferred.
  • Self-motivated, intellectually curious, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support customer meetings, conferences, and business development activities.
