Job Summary

This position is responsible for the support of Montefiore Einstein's clinical, biomedical, analytical, laboratory, and scientific systems and devices. Support includes testing, basic troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, inspection, calibration, and documentation in accordance with all regulatory agency requirements and Montefiore policies and procedures. The associate will be required to travel and provide support at Einstein off-site locations as needed.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance inspections on biomedical and clinical equipment in accordance with established schedules and manufacturer specifications Conduct testing, calibration, and safety checks to ensure compliance with regulatory standards Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on a wide range of medical and laboratory equipment Inspect, evaluate, and document equipment condition, functionality, and service outcomes Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the department's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) Assist in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of new biomedical equipment Respond to service requests and prioritize work assignments based on urgency and operational needs Collaborate with clinical staff to identify equipment issues and ensure timely resolution Provide basic user education and guidance on proper equipment usage when needed Comply with all safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements Qualifications Education: Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field required; Bachelor's degree preferred Experience: No experience required if you have a BS in Bioengineering or equivalent Minimum of 1โ€“3 years of experience working with biomedical or medical equipment in a hospital or healthcare setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of biomedical equipment, electronics, and mechanical systems Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair medical equipment issues Understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., safety standards, compliance guidelines) Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with clinical and technical staff Basic computer proficiency for documentation and tracking systems Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Work performed in clinical environments, laboratories, and bioengineering shop areas Exposure to patient care areas, mechanical systems, and electrical equipment May require lifting, moving, or installing equipment (moderate to heavy lifting) Travel between Montefiore sites, including Einstein, required Montefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
