Job description

THE ROLE:
We are seeking a charismatic, enthusiastic, talented and driven Intern to be part of Terasaki Institute's Marketing Team, who will take part in ushering in the next evolution of live event marketing via innovative digital marketing and traditional media campaigns. Do you have a passion for contributing to the power to make a positive impact, influence decision -making, and drive business growth? This is an incredible opportunity to gain invaluable experience and insight into the biomedical industry. Our ideal candidate has a passion for marketing and the ability to think outside the box. They are also highly organized and possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
You will be introduced to and gain hands-on experience creating and managing website development, newsletter production, press release distribution, event coordination, social media. The skills you will learn will include monitoring and analyzing campaign performance, adhering to campaign budgets, and aligning campaign goals. This role will report directly to the President.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Learn about the Different Platforms of How Terasaki Promotes their Mission.
  • Familiarize yourself with TIBI's research initiatives and understand the different areas of focus.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to identify promotional opportunities for TIBI's research: Website, Press Releases, Monthly Newsletter, Social Media, In-Person and Web Events.

Social Media
  • Assist with boosting content creation of various short-form video/static posts to promote TIBI's initiatives and projects.
  • Monitor TIBI's social media channels through audience outreach, scheduling and creating content calendars, and analytics overview.
  • Creating and scheduling promotional materials to create awareness and increase attendance during weekly web events.

Website Development
  • Assist with website development through backend maintenance to increase website visibility and engagement.

Newsletter/Press Releases
  • Aid with proofreading Press Release/ Monthly Newsletter content ensuring that the organization's brand voice and messaging is clear.

Web Events
  • Creating and scheduling promotional materials to create awareness and increase attendance during weekly web events.

Event Coordination (In-person and Online Events)
  • Assist with organizing in-person events to promote awareness of Academic Entrepreneurship within the Biomedical Engineering industry.
  • Contacting Vendors for event preparations, On-site event assistance, and create brand awareness through promotional event advertising.

Attend Weekly Marketing Meetings
  • Participate in content strategy meetings to understand the company's marketing goals and objectives.
  • Will be encouraged to suggest ideas for content creation and distribution across various channels.
  • Assist in the development of content calendars and schedules.

Collaboration
  • Collaborate with team members on various marketing projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating marketing events and campaigns.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the marketing team.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE):
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field
  • A strong interest in life sciences and/or biomedical field
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and social media platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A positive attitude and a customer-centric approach
  • Must be physically present and currently living in Los Angeles. Physical work arrangement is required due to nature of work.

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING:
  • The internship is available to recent College grads or students who will be juniors, seniors, and/or Master's students currently enrolled in a U.S.-accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, or related fields
  • An interest in marketing experience
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Familiar with G-Suite Tools
  • Exceptional written & verbal skills with the capability of documenting key findings and insights
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
  • Ability to take initiative and multi-task with strong follow-up
  • Ability to learn quickly and work with a team
  • Previous marketing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Affinity for the life sciences industry

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Repetitive movement of hands and fingers-typing and/or writing
  • Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading.
  • Occasional standing and walking
