What is biomedical equipment technology?

Biomedical equipment technology is a specialized field that focuses on the maintenance, repair, and calibration of medical equipment used in healthcare settings. Professionals in this field, known as biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs), ensure that devices like imaging machines, defibrillators, and patient monitors function safely and efficiently. They play a critical role in supporting patient care by ensuring medical equipment is reliable and meets regulatory standards. This work may also involve installing new equipment, training healthcare staff on proper use, and keeping detailed maintenance records.
