Overview
The Biomedical Technician II (BMET II) is a secondary-tier role responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient operation of patient care equipment. This position plays a vital role in supporting clinical teams by performing both general and advanced service, maintenance, and performance checks on medical devices across UnityPoint Health facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Service: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, installations, troubleshooting, and calibration of biomedical equipment (including PCs and imaging devices). Mentor BMET I staff, coordinate with vendors, and maintain expertise through ongoing training. Participate in on-call rotations and travel between affiliate sites as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure accurate documentation in the CMMS system, maintain equipment inventory records, and adhere to the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP) and all state/federal regulations.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Communicate equipment status and service updates to clinical staff, provide education on proper use, and support safe, effective patient care delivery.

Qualifications
Education:
  • Associate's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or other Technology/IT related program; military Biomedical Engineering Technician course graduate required.

Experience:
  • Minimum two (2) year's documented Biomedical Engineering Technology experience AND currently meets all BMET II job function requirements required.

License(s)/Certification(s):
  • Valid driver's license (DRLC1IA, DRLC1IL, DRLC1WI) required.
  • AUTOINS required for driving a personal vehicle.
