In this role, you will work on code compliance for the structural stability of complex and unique structures in Redmond.

This position is responsible for a broad range of advanced-level plan reviews related to the enforcement of commercial building codes adopted in the Redmond Municipal Code. You provide timely communication on the phone, in person and through email. You are organized and keep track of details, deadlines and paperwork But you can also pivot and change directions even with little information. You can keep projects moving but don't get ruffled if something needs to change at the last minute.

You are great at research and staying up to date with a changing field Building codes are being updated regularly and you know its vital to stay current with changing information. You are good at communicating complex ideas and information in a way people can understand Interpreting codes and standards is challenging and can be frustrating for people to navigate. But you have a gift for walking someone through the process with empathy and helping them understand how the codes and regulations apply to their project.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES Review plans, calculations, specifications and other documents for completeness of information, accuracy and conformance with local, state and federal codes and regulations. Communicate technical and code requirements to applicants and their consultants. Prepare checklists and identify required corrections to meet codes and standards, and request additional information when needed, using both written and verbal communication.

Determine the need for review and coordination with other departments and divisions in the City. Advise owners, engineers, architects, and contractors on the permit process and plan review procedures. Attend meetings with owners engineers, architects and contractors to assist them in the process for review and approval of the submittals.

Provide interpretations of the adopted building codes and engineering standards. Assist building inspectors with field questions. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.

Seven (7) years engineering experience which includes three years of project administration and management responsibilities. Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Licenses and Certificates Engineer-Senior requires a Professional Engineer's License.
