Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Dialysis Repair Technician To maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Fresenius and associated dialysis equipment and water treatment systems in the pediatric dialysis unit. Ensures that all equipment is safe, reliable, and functioning in compliance with manufacturer standards, regulatory requirements (e.g. AAMI, state/federal), and hospital policies to support high-quality care for pediatric patients.

What you will do:
  • Equipment Repair amp; Maintenance
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, unscheduled repair, and servicing of dialysis machines, water treatment systems (e.g., reverse osmosis, water purification), and ancillary equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and malfunctions in equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform corrective repairs.
  • Calibrate equipment as needed according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Disinfect, clean, and sanitize machines and components in compliance with hospital / Fresenius hygienic and infection-control protocols.
  • Required device experience: Fresenius 2008T Hemodialysis Machines and Fresenius Aqua-C Portable Reverse Osmosis Systems
  • Preferred Experience: Environmental amp; Working Conditions/ Mar Cor Portable RO Systems/ NxStage System One/ Better Water Central RO water system support
  • Adhere to strict infection control standards (e.g., handling of disinfectants, biohazardous materials, blood spills).
  • Maintain safe working practices when handling water treatment chemicals, heavy equipment, and electrical components.
  • Documentation amp; Records
  • Document repair, maintenance, calibration, testing, and cleaning activities in equipment logs and hospital systems.
  • Maintain records for regulatory audits.
  • Track trends in equipment performance to anticipate failures and budget for replacements/upgrades.
  • Collaboration amp; Communication
  • Work closely with clinical staff (nurses, physicians), infection control, hospital engineering, and manufacturers’ service teams as needed.
  • Report equipment downtime, repair status, and potential safety issues to supervisor.
  • Provide technical support or training to clinical staff in proper use and operation of dialysis equipment.
  • Inventory Management amp; Parts Logistics
  • Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts, tools, and consumables, track usage and order replenishment timely.
  • Manage warranty parts / returns / RMAs if applicable.
  • Coordinate with purchasing / supply chain for acquiring parts according to cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Quality Assurance amp; Regulatory amp; Safety
  • Conduct regular testing of water and dialysate samples to ensure quality meets established standards.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards (AAMI, state health departments, OSHA, etc.).
  • Participate in technical continuous quality improvement (CQI/QAI) efforts. Document findings and corrective actions.
  • Ensure safety checks, inspections, and required documentation are performed and maintained.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or vocational/technical training in electronics, biomedical engineering technology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining dialysis equipment and water treatment systems especially in a clinical or hospital environment.
  • Knowledge of equipment from Fresenius, and possibly other manufacturers (e.g., GE, Baxter, etc.).
  • Certifications such as Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT), BMET certification, or similar are beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to document properly.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to interact with both technical and clinical staff.
  • Willingness to follow safety, regulatory, and infection control practices strictly.
  • Must pass background and drug screen.

Safety Requirements:
  • Maintain a safe working environment for self and others if they come in contact within the biomed area in accordance with the facility’s policies
  • Must follow OSHA guidelines in regard to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, radiation, sharp instruments and/or tools, hazardous liquids, and operating devices
  • Ontime completion of safety trainings assignments
  • Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot amp; cold ranges of temperature, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish colors
  • Must be able be able to carry or lift up to 50 pounds routinely
