Under the direction and supervision of the Sports Director, the Program Specialist I is primarily responsible for the supervision of the Youth Sports Programs. They will assist in the supervision of Youth Sports staff including assisting in hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating. The supervision of programs includes maintaining and improving the quality and enrollment and retention of participants and being aware of current trends in the field. 

    • Above average knowledge in the areas of exercise science, physiology, and biomechanics.
    • Administrative skills needs for this position include computer skills, personnel management skills, organizational skills, scheduling and record keeping skills.
    • Exemplary human relation and motivational skills are needed.
    • Must be able to work as a member of the YMCA Management Team.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills needed.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children, family and YMCA staff.
    • Maintain current certifications in CPR AED, First Aid, Safety & Risk Management, Child Abuse Prevention, New Employee Orientation and other department trainings.
