Job description

Bering-Alaka`ina Holdings (BAH) has a potential need for an Epidemiologist to provide support for our government customer in Silver Spring, MD.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Specialties may include: Bio-surveillance, GEIS Program Management, Molecular Epidemiology Bioinformatics, Vector Surveillance, and/or Genomic Surveillance.
  • Rapidly identifies, characterizes, localizes, and tracks all biothreats events of concern to the DoD.
  • Integrates and analyzes data relating to human health, animal, plant, food, water, and environmental domains.
  • Demonstrate communication skills to integrate this information into concise informational products for an audience of DoD and interagency partners.
  • Serve as liaison with other sections to include AFHSD, CCMDs, Services, and interagency partners.
  • Provide epidemiologic surveillance analysis vital to enhance defense readiness by identifying and assessing current and emerging health threats, developing and communicating public health solutions, and assuring the quality and effectiveness of defense public health.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Epidemiology, Bioinformatics, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health or similar field.
  • Masters in Public Health (MPH) preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Proficient in current version of epidemiologic surveillance software (i.e. SAS and R, Microsoft Office Suite) for analysis.
  • Demonstrate communication skills to integrate information into concise informational products for an audience of DoD and interagency partners.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience working in a DoD Government environment preferred.
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen; for the purposes of this effort Visa and Green-card holders are not eligible.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the Position of a Public Trust.
