Job Summary and Qualifications

The Catering Coordinator is responsible for coordinating catered events and maintaining the Physicians Dining Room. This includes, but is not exclusive of preparing the food and the room, serving and cleaning up of catered meals. Responsible for the set-up, stock and restock, recording all food and supplies used, clean up and checking regularly throughout the day to meet the needs of the physicians.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. General duties: 
    • Coordinates catering events with director and/or management team. 
    • Sets up designated room according to Room Reservation Request and/or through verbal communication. 
    • Prepares or ensures preparation of appropriate food is completed to meet time requirements for each event. 
    • Sets up and presents food to recipients in a professional and pleasing manner. 
    • Neatness and appropriate temperatures must be maintained throughout the serving period. 
    • Checks on function as needed and tends to any further need for food and/or supplies. 
    • Ensures that rooms are cleaned after event and returned to a neat and clean appearance. 
    • All food and supplies are properly stored; dishes and utensils are washed, and returned to appropriate storage areas. 
    • Sets up meals for physicianโ€™s breakfast, lunch, and snacks Mon-Fri. 
    • Monitors food and supply status throughout the day, restocking as needed. 
    • Monitors room cleaning and straightening to ensure a clean and neat appearance throughout the day. 
    • Responsible for cleaning and restocking all points of service in the physiciansโ€™ dining room. Ensures that all areas are well stocked during the day as well as for after-hours consumption. 
    • As time allows, assist with food preparation for catering and doctors dining room 
    • Responsible for ensuring accurate and complete communications of all areas related to each catering, including but not limited to food preparation, room set-up, staffing and room clean up. 
    • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication. 
    • Stocks and maintains food in the EMS 1 and EMS 2.

  3. Professional requirements: 
    • Adheres to dress code: appearance is neat and clean. 
    • Wears designated department uniform in a professional and sanitary condition with appropriate hair restraint with clean, non-skid closed-toe shoes. 
    • Completes annual educational requirements. Maintains education and development appropriate for position. 
    • Wears identification/badge while on duty. 
    • Attends appropriate departmental and committee meetings on a regular basis. 
    • Attends departmental in-service and mandatory education. 
    • Masters new work routine, methods, and techniques. 
    • Demonstrates understanding of hospital and departmental policies and procedures. 
  4. Management of the environment of care: 
    • Reduces the risk of acquiring or transmitting infection by learning and adhering to hospital and departmental policies and immediately communicating all unsatisfactory issues to management. 
    • Attends mandatory education to refresh knowledge in preventing the spread of infections. 
    • Performs duties in a safe, functional and effective manner that reduces hazards and risks, prevents accidents and injuries and maintains safe conditions by adhering to established safety standards for body mechanics, electrical biohazard, utilities and emergency preparedness plan. 
    • Washes hands thoroughly and frequently following good personal hygiene practices. 
    • Understands and utilizes personal protective equipment to protect from exposure to chemical, radiation and/or biohazard. 
    • Understands and adheres to emergency codes and procedures. Able to describe responsibilities for each code as well as evacuation route and department meeting area. 
    • Is competent and responsible in following safety & security polices of the hospital. 
    • Utilizes equipment in safe, effective manner. 
    • Is knowledgeable of the location and contents of the MSDS manual. 
    • Adheres and supports hospitalโ€™s smoking policy. 
  5. Employeeโ€™s conduct must reflect the companyโ€™s values and a commitment to the Code of Conduct, ethics and compliance program. Supports hospital mission statement, standards of behavior, and goals. 
  6. Adheres and upholds all service behaviors as listed in the ICARE value commitment and other departmental initiatives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Required:Formal training and/or education in Food Services or catering field. Computer training and/or skills. 
  • Preferred: Some College education. 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: 

  • Required:Current ServSafe Handler Permit, Williamson County Health Department Food Handler Card or State Food Safety permit at time of hire.
