Job description

Job Summary:

The Admissions Specialist 1 provides administrative and operational support for the UCSF School of Dentistry's admissions and recruitment functions. Under general supervision, the incumbent coordinates applicant communications, processes and maintains admissions records, prepares application materials for committee review, and supports recruitment and outreach activities for prospective students. The position serves as a primary point of contact for applicants, ensuring accurate and timely information regarding admissions requirements, application procedures, and enrollment processes.

The Admissions Specialist assists with the management of applicant data, interview coordination, admissions events, and admissions committee activities while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with university policies and accreditation standards. The incumbent contributes to a positive applicant experience and supports the UCSF School of Dentistry's efforts to recruit and enroll a diverse and highly qualified student body.

We provide comprehensive oral health care services with over 120,000 patient visits per year. We offer a four-year DDS program as well as a two-year program for international dentists that culminate in the DDS degree. We have numerous specialty residencies, PhD and Master's degree programs in Oral and Craniofacial Sciences, a combined DDS-PhD program, and a combined PhD-dental specialty training program. Other graduate programs include Craniofacial and Mesenchymal Biology and Bioengineering, and a DDS/MBA program. The School is one of the preeminent oral and craniofacial research enterprises in the world, ranking number one in National Institute of Health funding for 24 consecutive years.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Basic knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population
  • Basic knowledge of UC, and the ability to explain basic information to prospective applicants and the public
  • Basic knowledge of academic programs, including curricula and admissions requirements at UC
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
