Description:

Bioenergy Development LLC, a company based in Memphis, Tennessee, is seeking an Industrial Electrician for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems for manufacture of biodiesel. The company has a significant presence in the chemical manufacturing industry and operates a waste-to-biodiesel plant, one of the largest in North America. It is a preferred supplier of biodiesel to major travel center operators in the United States.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance of a plant’s electrical systems.
  • Capable of installing multiple types of manufacturing electrical systems.
  • Maintain, and repair electrical systems.
  • Create and monitor logs or reports for all electrical repairs performed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical manufacturing issues.
  • Use testing devices to ensure electrical systems are working properly.
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints to understand electrical layouts and systems.
  • Understand how the facility’s electrical system operates under normal and emergency conditions
  • Perform preventative maintenance on variable frequency drives (VFDs), motors, pumps, generators, etc.
  • Repairing faulty equipment, wiring, or control devices.
  • Evaluate equipment failures using a variety of meters.
  • Work with high-voltage systems.
  • Understand and follow compliance with safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular plant inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
  • Collaborate Work with engineers and maintenance staff, to coordinate repairs.
  • Maintain equipment so the plant is in good working order.
  • Notify maintenance and other personnel to correct equipment malfunctions and to adjust power, steam, water, or air supplies.
  • Possess practical knowledge of BQ 9000 concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Understand Bioenergy Quality Policy and dedication to consistently and safely providing quality products that meet the needs of our customers.
  • May serve on an Employee Safety (Involvement) Committee.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 5 years of Industrial Electrician chemical experience or a closely similar industrial plant manufacturing setting.
  • Hold a Journeyman or Master license.
  • Possess specialized expertise in installing and maintaining electrical systems within manufacturing operations and/or a related field is an advantage.
  • Strong trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to walk for prolonged periods
  • Able to work at multi-levels
  • Able to climb straight ladders
  • Able to lift 50 pounds

Additional Information


This is a full-time position that reports to the Maintenance Manager. The work schedule for this position is a Monday – Friday, day, schedule. This role may be required to overtime hours outside regular shift schedule to support non-routine work and plant turnarounds. The Memphis biodiesel manufacturing plant operates on a 7-day, 24-hour schedule.
