Summer Internship Program

The program is a 10-week paid internship immersive experience that provides functional learning working on robust and challenging project work, Executive and Senior leadership engagement, and exposure to Danaher Business System fundamentals. The program culminates with a report-out presentation to leaders from the organization. After successful completion of the program, interns will be considered to return as a full-time associate upon graduation.

This position is part of the Cell-Based R&D team located in Madison, WI and will be on-site. At Aldevron, we combine best-in-class products and servicewith the ideal operating environment to lay the groundworkfor vital new discoveries worldwide. You will be a part of the R&D team, report to a senior scientist on the team, and work alongside our other experienced scientists. The role will also offer frequent opportunities to interact and collaborate with other functional groups at Aldevron-Madison.

The R&D intern responsibilities may include:

  • Carry out general research laboratory activities (following protocols or SOPs) under moderate supervision
  • Help develop innovative methods or products that help fuel our business needs
  • Design and execute experiments, interpret resulting data, and communicate results at regular team meetings.
  • Carry out expression screens or experiments to produce proteins of interest at a large range of scales
  • Purify recombinant proteins utilizing automated chromatography systems
  • Characterize a variety of in-process samples with methods including, but not limited to, OD determination, metabolite profiling, SDS-PAGE, RP-HPLC, aSEC, LAL assay, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, dynamic and static light scattering, and in vitro biochemical assays
  • Complete project plans according to specifications, including timeline and budget

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry or related life science discipline
  • Previous experience with recombinant protein expression and purification
  • Exposure to one or a combination of the following is required:
    • Automated single-use or stainless-steel bioreactor systems and control software
    • Protein expression systems and/or aseptic technique
    • AKTA systems and unicorn software

The hourly range for this role is $38 per hour. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
