Job description

Position Overview

Moore Marine College is seeking a versatile and student-focused Adjunct Professor to teach one or two undergraduate-level or graduate level coursework in biochemistry, organic chemistry, and/or genetics.

This is an on-site position at our Clearwater, Florida campus. Associate Professors are compensated per course for a 14-week semester, with classes meeting in 1.5-hour sessions twice per week.

This is a teaching-focused position designed for an educator who can deliver strong foundational science instruction while helping students connect these concepts to real-world marine biology applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in one or more of the following areas:
    • Biochemistry
    • Organic Chemistry
    • Genetics
  • Develop and oversee introductory laboratory components, including:
    • Basic chemical and molecular techniques
    • Sample analysis and data interpretation
    • Lab safety and protocol instruction
  • Integrate core scientific concepts into marine and environmental contexts
  • Support student learning, engagement, and academic development
  • Assist with curriculum development as programs expand

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required; Ph.D. preferred in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field
  • Prior teaching experience preferred (college-level a plus)
  • Laboratory experience required
  • Ability to teach across multiple disciplines is highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills and a student-centered teaching approach
