Job description


Sweet Briar College is seeking an adjunct instructor either to teach both CHEM 321: Biochemistry Lecture and CHEM 323: Biochemistry Lab, or only CHEM 323: Biochemistry Lab.  The semester begins the week of August 24, and the lecture meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10:40am-11:35am, and the lab meets Tuesday afternoons 1:10pm to 4pm.  If teaching the lab only, the adjunct will collaborate with a Sweet Briar College faculty member who will be teaching the lecture.

Required Qualifications

  • A graduate degree in chemistry or a closely-related field, with graduate-level coursework in biochemistry; preference will be given to those with a Ph.D. or who are ABD.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience
  • Excellent communication skills.

The salary range for this position in the lecture portion is $5,000.00- $5,500.00 per course. The Lab portion is $2,000- $2,500 per course. This is commensurate with education and experience and will be determined in accordance with institutional guidelines.
