Position Highlights
A self-motivated research technician III is needed in Dr. Christian Bime's laboratory. The incumbent will perform a variety of laboratory tasks, including data generation, analysis, graphing, and reporting. Following the instructions from the PI and other senior lab personnel, order and manage laboratory supplies, make detailed observations, quantitatively analyze data, and interpret results. The incumbent will work independently and in close collaboration with others on multiple projects in the lab. Responsibility of serving as the safety coordinator for lab chemical and biological approvals.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct laboratory experiments and generate, analyze, graph, visualize, and report research data.
  • Maintain laboratory supplies, logs, and record books; keep laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Safety coordinator for lab chemical and biological approvals.
  • Maintain genetically modified mouse colonies, which includes rodent work, and related experimentation (genotyping, dissections, injections of biological compounds, minor and major surgeries).
  • Perform RNA extraction/ real-time PCR, protein extraction/ Western blot and cell culture.
  • Collection, preparation, and cataloging of tissue samples.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic molecular and cell biology techniques.
  • Ability to collect experimental data and handle animals.
  • Self-motivated and readily learns and adapts to new techniques.
  • Works effectively and efficiently both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, timely report experimental progress or problems.
  • Ability to follow the instruction and keeping detailed experimental records.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and techniques.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Physiology, Cellular and Molecular Medicine, or a similar field.
  • Experience with molecular biology is desired but not required; experience with animal work is desired but not required.
  • Experience obtained via college coursework; research experience in a research laboratory is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with small animals is a plus.
  • Experience in scope/imaging, cell culture, molecular biology, and histology is a plus.
