The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $17.43 to $18.94.

About the Position

The Housekeepingattendantperformsa variety ofbasic housekeepingtasksand laundry servicesin support of the organization's daily operational needswithin the Juvenile Detention facility.
NOTE:This position rotates shifts every four months, with shifts from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM and 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Regular weekend and holiday availability is also required.

Position Qualifications

We recognize your time is valuable, so please apply if you meet the following required qualifications:

Experience:

  • Six (6) months of experience in commercial laundry, custodial, maintenance, cleaning, or similarly related work experience

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

  • The hiring process requires applicants to pass an interview and background investigation.

  • Positions in detention are subject to Tuberculosis (TB) testing and require a negative TB result prior to start date.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Cleaning and sanitizing procedures.

  • Cleaning equipment used in laundry andcustodial work.

  • Cleaning supply storage and rotation procedures.

  • Cleaning agents and the risks of chemical reactions when solutions are mixed.

Skill in:

  • Operating cleaning and laundry equipment.

  • Cleaning and properly disposing of bio-hazard waste.

  • Understandingand carrying out allpolicies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations (including all safety training and safety information) associated with this position.

Ability to:

  • Prioritizea variety oftasks.

  • Demonstrate appropriate time management.

Essential Job Tasks

  • Cleans and sanitizes assigned work areas.

  • Sorts, washes, driesand foldslaundry including clothes, shoes, sheets and blankets.

  • Perform custodial work and routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, disposing of trash and cleaning restrooms.

  • Utilizesindustrial cleaning equipmentto strip, wax and buff floors

  • Replenishes supplies.

  • Cleansand disposesof bio-hazardous waste.

  • Maintainsinventory of clean laundry.

  • Distributesclean laundry to detention units.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away;stand and walkforextendedperiods of time;stoop, bend and kneel;use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; andpush, pull or lift up to 25pounds.This position requires working in a secured detention facility and may require working near detained youth.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.
