How to get into bio hazard cleanup?

To become a bio hazard cleanup technician, you typically need training in hazardous materials handling, knowledge of safety protocols, and certification such as OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens training. Gaining experience in cleaning or environmental services can also be helpful, and some employers require a background check and physical fitness for the physically demanding work environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a bio clean up technician?

To thrive as a Bio Cleanup Technician, you need a solid understanding of hazardous materials handling, OSHA regulations, and safety protocols, often supported by certifications such as HAZWOPER or Bloodborne Pathogens training. Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE), specialized cleaning agents, and decontamination equipment is typically required. Attention to detail, resilience, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for managing sensitive situations and working within a team. These skills and qualifications are vital to ensure thorough, safe cleanup procedures while protecting the health and well-being of both workers and the public.

What is bio clean up?

Bio clean up, also known as biohazard remediation, is the process of cleaning, sanitizing, and deodorizing areas affected by biological hazards such as blood, bodily fluids, or other potentially infectious materials. This service is often required after traumatic events like accidents, unattended deaths, or crime scenes to ensure the area is safe and free from harmful pathogens. Professionals use specialized equipment and follow strict safety protocols to properly dispose of contaminated materials and restore the affected environment. Bio clean up helps protect public health and prevent the spread of disease.

What is the difference between Bio Clean Up vs Crime Scene Cleaner?

What are some of the typical challenges faced by professionals in bio clean up roles, and how can they be managed?

Bio clean up professionals often encounter challenging environments, including exposure to hazardous materials, emotionally distressing scenes, and strict regulatory requirements. Managing these challenges requires thorough training in safety protocols, the use of personal protective equipment, and strong emotional resilience. Job description

The Mission

Drug discovery has a translation problem: more than 95% of drugs that succeed in animal models fail in humans. We're building the alternative: human-first drug discovery, powered by organoids and AI, running on real human biology from the very first experiment.

Our platform is 87% concordant with clinical patient data - a vast improvement over the 3% translational success rate of animals. Weโ€™ve demonstrated the ability to model immunotoxicology, immunogen stimulation, and two autoimmune diseases with more on the way. Numerous pharma partners including 3 Fortune 500 companies are already using the platform. We've raised ~$30M from AIX Ventures, Marc Benioff, Jeff Dean, and Y Combinator. With the FDA Modernization Act 3.0 and the FDA's March 2026 validation framework, the regulatory tailwinds only continue to get stronger.

The opportunity ahead of the company is generational: build the first scaled engine for generating real human biological data, and use it to fundamentally change how medicines are discovered.

The Opportunity

The core problem in drug discovery is that thereโ€™s no reliable way to know how a compound will behave in a real human immune system before it enters patients. Animal models fail. Cell lines are too reductive. Clinical trials are too late.

Parallel Bio has built the missing prediction layer: patientโ€‘derived immune organoids that fully recapitulate human immune system function, combined with advanced computation to generate populationโ€‘scale drug response data. R&D leaders at biotech and pharma companies who see the platform immediately grasp what it means for their pipelines.

Your job is to get them to that moment, and close.

We have major pharma Fortune 500 partners, validated technology, and a product the market has been waiting for. What we need now is someone to build the global commercial infrastructure to own and scale our process.

What youโ€™ll own

Market Build & Revenue. You own the number. Youโ€™ll aggressively target and open new accounts across a tiered customer base, from global pharmaceutical companies to highโ€‘growth biotech startups, carrying your own quota.

Frontโ€‘Line Outreach. You own your pipeline directly. That means consistent cold calling, daily outreach, and personally working R&D and Discovery leads. This is a handsโ€‘on role where you will be driving new business acquisition.

Platform Adoption. Prove the scientific utility and translational value of our platform to R&D Heads and Cโ€‘level executives. Youโ€™ll translate complex biology into a compelling commercial narrative.

Customer Stewardship & Expansion. Maintain highโ€‘level relationships with existing accounts to ensure they see the longโ€‘term value of our data, driving multiโ€‘year, and expanded adoption.

Team Building. As your success scales, youโ€™ll help hire and develop the team. Youโ€™re responsible for ensuring junior Account Executives succeed, coaching them on technical objection handling and building the sales culture from the ground up.

Operational Excellence. Youโ€™ll lead by example on CRM discipline. Youโ€™ll insist on clean data, consistent pipeline hygiene, and tight alignment between commercial activity and companyโ€‘wide scientific goals.

Why this role is different

This is a frontโ€‘line execution role, not a management one. You are here to drive revenue through direct action: prospecting, calling, closing, and repeating. Most senior sales hires at this stage want to manage. We need someone who wants to sell.

The platform is genuinely novel. That means longer sales cycles and more education, but also a categoryโ€‘defining advantage once you get in front of the right people. Youโ€™ll be selling into a buying center (R&D leads, Discovery teams, Cโ€‘suite) that has never had access to data or a platform like this before.

If youโ€™re energized by the challenge of building a market from the ground up, this is the role. If you need a defined playbook waiting for you, this isnโ€™t.

What weโ€™re looking for Experience & Track Record
  • 5+ years of technical sales experience with a documented track record of exceeding quota in highโ€‘stakes environments (eg Biotech, MedTech, or Enterprise AI)

  • Demonstrated experience closing complex, multiโ€‘stakeholder deals with long sales cycles (6โ€“18 months)

  • Prior experience as an early commercial hire at a startup, or in a role that required building pipeline and process from scratch is a plus

  • At least one role with 3+ years tenure is a plus

Technical & Scientific Depth
  • You can digest a white paper and navigate a technical discussion with PhD scientists and R&D leads without needing a support team

  • Background in Life Sciences (B.S./M.S. in a relevant discipline) or equivalent โ€œonโ€‘theโ€‘jobโ€ technical expertise gained in a complex medical/biotech sales environment

  • Comfort translating platform science into a business case for Cโ€‘level and R&D buyers simultaneously

Hunter Mentality
  • You are โ€œscrappyโ€ โ€” willing to create the outreach templates, build the sales process, and work leads that donโ€™t yet exist

  • You understand that selling a new paradigm requires relentless followโ€‘up and the social intelligence to maintain longโ€‘term institutional trust

  • You donโ€™t wait for inbound; you build the pipeline yourself

OTE: $260,000 โ€“ $340,000+

Parallel Bio is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, or sexual orientation.
