What's the Role?


Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contract Binding E&S Senior Underwriter to underwrite, price, and bind complex General Liability, Property, and Excess risks under delegated binding authority. This role requires strong technical underwriting judgment, comfort with non-standard E&S exposures, and the ability to operate independently within defined authority.


Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite, quote, bind, endorse, and renew GL, Property, and Excess accounts within delegated authority
  • Evaluate complex E&S risks including higher-hazard operations and CAT-exposed property
  • Analyze loss history, valuations, exposure data, and coverage adequacy
  • Structure coverage terms, limits, deductibles, and pricing to meet portfolio and profitability goals
  • Negotiate terms and coverage with managing general agents
  • Issue accurate policy documentation and endorsements in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with binding authority agreements, carrier guidelines, and surplus lines regulations
  • Participate in audits, reviews, and reporting related to binding authority performance


Qualifications

  • 7+ years of E&S underwriting experience across GL, Property, and/or Excess
  • Prior experience working under delegated binding authority
  • Strong understanding of non-admitted markets and E&S industry
  • Ability to underwrite complex, non-standard risks independently
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills


Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance
  • CPCU, AU, ASLI or RPLU designation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and eager to take initiative
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
