Job Description

The VDC Coordinator is responsible for the day‑to‑day execution of BIM/VDC workflows on assigned projects. This role focuses on model coordination, clash detection, issue tracking, and supporting construction planning efforts to ensure conflicts and constructability challenges are identified and resolved before impacting the field.

Working under the direction of the VDC Manager, the VDC Coordinator serves as a critical link between trade partners, design teams, and project leadership, maintaining model quality, supporting coordination meetings, and delivering reliable digital information that improves field execution and project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Model Management & Coordination

  • Manage and update federated BIM models using input from designers and trade partners.
  • Perform regular clash detection and coordination analysis according to project standards.
  • Track, document, and follow up on coordination issues through resolution.
  • Clean, organize, and validate incoming trade models for consistency and accuracy.
  • Maintain model versioning and data organization in accordance with MHC standards.

Coordination Support

  • Support and participate in multi‑trade BIM coordination meetings.
  • Prepare coordination views, clash reports, and visuals for meetings and follow‑up.
  • Collaborate with trade partners to resolve conflicts and improve constructability.
  • Communicate coordination impacts clearly to VDC Managers and project teams.

Construction Planning & Visualization

  • Assist with construction sequencing, phasing, and site logistics modeling.
  • Produce 2D and 3D visuals, screenshots, and animations to support field understanding.
  • Support superintendent and field staff with model walkthroughs and problem‑solving.
  • Help translate model data into practical, field‑ready deliverables.

Quality Control & Standards

  • Apply and uphold MHC BIM standards, templates, and workflows.
  • Perform model quality checks to ensure accuracy, alignment, and coordination readiness.
  • Support VDC Managers in maintaining consistency across projects.
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in workflows and elevate recommendations.

Technology & Continuous Improvement

  • Utilize approved VDC/BIM software to support project delivery.
  • Assist with testing or deployment of new tools under manager guidance.
  • Continue developing technical skills and construction knowledge.
  • Provide basic VDC software support to project teams as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
    OR equivalent professional experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in BIM/VDC, construction technology, or coordination roles.
  • Experience working on commercial construction projects.
  • Understanding of trade coordination and construction sequencing concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
  • Experience with coordination and issue‑tracking platforms such as Revizto.
  • Exposure to site logistics modeling and basic 4D concepts.
  • Familiarity with Trimble Field software, SketchUp, Synchro, or Fuzor.
  • Strong desire to grow into advanced VDC or management roles.
