Overview
Manage VDC/BIM on existing projects and work to implement VDC in new projects. This position will lead a team of distributed BIM modelers to model all facets of work related to Heavy Civil Construction. They will also work with project teams to develop construction sequencing and supporting visuals and models.

Position Description
Essential Responsibilities and Abilities
VDC/BIM Manager's responsibilities and abilities include but are not limited to the list below.
  • Understand the means and methods of construction of underground utilities, industrial/water/wastewater piping, earthwork, and concrete structures and use that knowledge to guide the development of BIM models and surface models.
  • Review BIM models and provide constructability and construction sequence feedback
  • Successfully lead and provide training to a distributed team of Heavy Civil modelers.
  • Conduct meetings with engineers, architects, and other contractors to resolve clashes, design issues, and constructability issues.
  • Develop workflow and document company standards for VDC
  • Model underground utilities and mechanical pipe systems.
  • Model concrete building and bridge structures.
  • Model grading surfaces.
  • Develop construction sequence drawings.
  • Perform takeoffs from the model to assist operations and estimating.
  • Develop and maintain a CPM schedule for project modeling, QC, and sign-offs.
  • Periodically travel to project sites to coordinate with on-site project staff and maintain familiarity with project site conditions.
  • Ensure modeling activities move according to pre-determined schedule(s).
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Represents Company in project meetings, client meetings, etc.
  • Work with and provide support to project management, project engineers, field engineers, and superintendents.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as directed.

Position Requirements
Qualifications

  • o Experience modeling gravity and pressure pipe networks in Civil 3D or Revit.
  • o Experience modeling complex excavations in Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or Agtek.
  • o Experience successfully using BIM coordination platforms such as BIM 360, BIM Track, Navisworks or Trimble Connect to collaborate on projects.
  • o Bachelor's degree in engineering, or equivalent combinations of technical training, and/or related experience.
  • o Minimum of 5 years of experience working in CAD software.
  • o Minimum of 5 years of experience working in industrial, heavy civil, or pipeline construction.
  • o Minimum of 1 year of experience in successfully managing a team.
  • o A minimum of 5 years of reading plans and specs for construction projects.
  • o Proven ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • o Pass criminal and driving background checks
  • o Valid Driver License
