POSITION SUMMARY:

As the BIM Manager, you will oversee the successful and efficient use of available BIM tools within the firm. You will also be responsible for the management and successful, consistent implementation of the firm’s BIM best practices by all project team members in the production of 3D Building Information Models. The firm currently uses the latest version of Autodesk Revit, and all models are cloud hosted to Autodesk Construction Cloud / Forma.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Lead the firm in all BIM related aspects of the work.
  • Maintain open communication firm-wide including with remote and multi office teams through intranet posts, newsletters, etc, including BIM standards updates and other BIM content.
  • Augment office BIM documentation procedures, creating and documenting new workflows as required and communicating them firm wide.
  • Develop and maintain BIM content including Revit Templates, Families, Detail Components, Detail Library in Pirros, shared parameters, and Dynamo scripts.
  • Coordinate with internal project managers, project architects, project BIM coordinators / job captains and engineering consultants’ BIM managers.
  • Maintain up-to-date BIM Execution Plan template and create project specific BEP’s including BIM protocol, LOD, etc.
  • Conduct BIM Kickoff meeting for each project.
  • Manage initial BIM project setup in coordination with project architect for each project.
  • Manage ACC setup, models, publishing, workflow, users, and permissions.
  • Work with construction administration team and attend BIM coordination meetings during construction as required.
  • Work alongside builder BIM teams on Design-Build projects.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with approaches to modeling and detailing of project work.
  • Assist with development of complex project models and parametric families where required. Assist with project specific approach to complex modeling where required.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support with Autodesk software
  • Serve as a resource on BIM related topics and respond to support requests and post/document solutions on internal intranet where applicable.
  • Manage model maintenance and health using Revit and ACC / Forma, including purging, auditing, error clearing in coordination with project architect and job captain for each project.
  • Support the delivery of BIM projects in terms of BIM & CAD coordination and firm standards/best practices, review internal and consultant models and communicate reviews to project team.
  • Organize periodic meetings with project architects and job captains to review expectations regarding BIM.
  • Assist with clash detection and reporting efforts using Navisworks and ACC / Forma, including setup of clash detection models, generation and review of clash issues and reports.
  • Assist with importing point clouds or other data sets from 3rd party laser scans.
  • Assist in implementing sustainability workflows and analysis using Revit model and plug-ins such as Insight and software such as Covetool.
  • Participate in evaluating and onboarding of all new team members who will be using BIM software.
  • Evaluate team members’ BIM skill level and provide necessary mentoring and training including using the Learning Management System and assessment tools as well as one on one support.
  • Run company-wide training sessions for software such as Revit, Navisworks, ACC / Forma, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Pirros, etc. for best industry practices.
  • Create new BIM training content for Revit, ACC, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.
  • Manage consistent testing and roll out of new BIM software versions and builds.
  • Test and evaluate new BIM related software, plug-ins, add-ins, and AI technologies and make recommendations for implementation.
  • Work with design team to integrate design team workflow and software into BIM project workflow to ensure smooth process and interoperability of software.
  • Work with marketing team and project managers on BIM content for project proposals.
  • Work with project managers on ensuring the correct BIM requirements are included in project contracts.
  • Work with project architects to streamline production processes where practical.
  • Work with leadership team to develop new BIM initiatives such as emerging technology, sustainability, etc.
  • Work on ongoing BIM initiatives such as the BIM Standards Team.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and opportunities for improving efficiency and best practices.
  • Attend trade events and webinars as needed to keep at the forefront of BIM within the industry and report back to team, such as BILT, Autodesk University, etc.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Must:

  • Expert level of proficiency using Autodesk Revit, Subject Matter Expert on Revit and its application within Architecture
  • Expert level of proficiency using Autodesk Construction Cloud (Forma)
  • Highly proficient in Navisworks
  • Ability to set up clash detection models, run clash detection, generate and review clash detection reports / issues using Navisworks and ACC / Forma
  • Knowledge of Pirros for detail management within Architecture firms
  • Familiarity with rendering/visualization applications typically used in conjunction with Revit, such as Twin Motion, Lumion, Enscape, V-Ray.
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Civil 3D and other frequently used industry software, and how they interact with Revit
  • Knowledge of effective Revit Plug-Ins and Add-Ins
  • Knowledge of construction documentation
  • Knowledge of detailing and construction
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards
  • Experience on large-scale projects using BIM, Autodesk Revit, and ACC
  • Experience with Dynamo scripts is highly valued
  • Experience with DSA Education projects, Senior Living projects, and / or Student Housing projects is a plus, but not required

To Qualify, You Must Have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
    • 10 years minimum experience in the AEC industry
    • 7 years minimum experience using Autodesk Revit and ACC / Forma on design / construction projects in a professional architecture firm.
