Role DefinitionThe BIM Manager will coordinate and support design efforts throughout the preconstruction and construction phases of projects. They will guide and train in-house personnel and set standards for in-house and contract design professionals. The BIM Manager must have a strong engineering background and a desire to improve content and workflows for design.

They are responsible for setting the standards for the use of Revit and associated software for design work and for maintaining content libraries. Identify emerging technologies (AI-driven design tools, automated QA/QC, digital twins, mobile scanning, robotics) and evaluate their potential impact on engineering, fabrication, and construction workflows Build business cases for new tools or workflows, including ROI analysis, risk assessment, and implementation planning Develop or oversee creation of scripts, templates, plug-ins, and custom tools that improve efficiency and consistency Champion interoperability across platforms (Revit, Navisworks, Inventor, point-cloud tools, fabrication software, project management systems) Evaluate and implement integrations that reduce manual data transfer and improve information flow across the project lifecycle BIM CONTENT MANAGEMENT Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure content reflects real-world constructability and shop standards Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to integrate manufacturer content that meets internal quality requirements Align content with project execution plans, model progression specifications, and discipline-specific standards Build and curate a centralized library of parametric families, assemblies, templates, and detail components Ensure all content meets quality benchmarks for geometry, performance, parameters, and documentation Regularly audit libraries to remove outdated content, consolidate duplicates, and improve usability Develop new BIM content to support project needs, fabrication workflows, and emerging technologies

Create content that supports automation, data extraction, and downstream digital workflows Optimize families for performance, ensuring efficient model behavior without sacrificing accuracy Implement QA/QC processes for reviewing new or updated content before it enters the production environment TRAIN PERSONNEL ON THE USE OF NEW TECHNOLOGY Enable personnel to grow in their positions by building their skills and understanding of BIM design tools Build a knowledge base of best practices, troubleshooting guides, and workflow documentation Seek out and identify skills gaps with team members to prioritize training needs and efforts in the future Implement new design software workflows through effective communication and training of team members Build trust with the team as a subject matter expert providing guidance on how to use all engineering software to perform daily design development tasks Note opportunities for improvement in team members skills and department workflows. Organize and lead efforts for improvements leading to improved efficiency and effectiveness of the team. BIM STANDARDS MANAGEMENT Establish, maintain, and continuously refine companywide BIM standards, ensuring alignment with project delivery methods, fabrication requirements, and industry best practices.

Maintain a centralized, version-controlled repository of BIM standards, guidelines, templates, and reference materials. Conduct periodic audits of models, drawings, and deliverables to identify gaps and improvement opportunities. Define data structures, parameters, and classification systems that enable consistent reporting, scheduling, and analytics.

Maintain alignment between BIM standards and related systems such as ERP, estimating, and asset management platforms. REALITY CAPTURE PROGRAM MANAGEMENT Define the organizations reality-capture vision, standards, and long-term roadmap. Maintain a structured intake process for capture requests, prioritizing based on project needs, risk, and value.

Evaluate, select, and manage hardware and software platforms (laser scanners, drones, SLAM devices, processing tools). Develop standardized workflows for field capture, data processing, registration, QA/QC, and model integration. Ensure interoperability between point clouds, BIM models, and project management systems.

Validate that capture outputs meet accuracy, density, and completeness requirements for their intended use (as-built verification, clash detection, prefabrication, etc.). EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in a related science field such as Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Agricultural, or Civil Engineering. Minimum of 10 years of design experience, 3 years managing the BIM process desired

Working knowledge and hands-on 3-D laser scanning experience required. Working knowledge and hands-on VR and AR experience desired. Working knowledge and hands-on experience manipulating 3-D point clouds in Revit models required.

Working knowledge of Navisworks for visualization, clash detection, and quantification required. Working knowledge of ISO 19650-1 and 19650-2 standards desired BIM Manager Certification from Autodesk, RICS, or other recognized authority desired. Autodesk Professional Certification for Architectural, MEP, or Structural Design desired.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Project Master level of proficiency in Revit is required. Travel up to 10% or as needed, by air and ground. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking.

Frequently requires standing, fine dexterity, sitting, and handling. Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment. Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels.

Must be able to respond quickly to sounds. Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.

Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day. Must be able to work in cold/hot environments and on concrete floors. Occasionally requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching.

Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking. Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain. Must be able to stand for extended durations.
