JMT Consultants is a North American-based global leader specializing in steel and concrete design solutions. Services include pre-construction modeling, structural design support, steel and concrete detailing, connection and stair engineering, panel book detailing, estimate modeling, and BIM management. We are looking for a highly skilled and detailed oriented Connection Design Engineer who can help drive project success from inception to completion.


The ideal candidate will work with the project manager and associated team to organize and implement new and exciting company projects. Working in a team environment, you will have significant experience in designing connections for steel and concrete structures, with proficiency in Tekla for detailing, blueprints, and Bluebeam for markups and reviews. This role is essential to the launching of new projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Primary responsibilities will include structural analysis for delegated steel connection design projects
  • Will work on CISC & AISC projects. AISC projects will be led by our US company
  • Typical projects would consist of steel connection design, miscellaneous steel design, and erection engineering
  • Additional responsibilities include calculation development, steel shop drawing reviews, submittal preparation, RFI development and new calculation development to enhance efficiencies
  • Utilize analysis software programs such as Ram Connection, RISA Connection, Excel, Idea Statica, Bluebeam, Trimble Connect and Revit
  • Review 3-D BIM models to aid in building design, connection design and shop drawing reviews

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering
  • Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering is a plus
  • PE (P.Eng.) certification is an asset

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
