Position Title: Medical Biller & Coding Specialist

We strive for excellence in quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes and are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing & Coding Specialist to join our team.

Job Description

This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience, including charge posting, payment posting, collections, and A/R. Candidates must hold a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification and have at least 1 year of orthopedic medical billing experience.

The position will support our busy orthopedic practice and will be responsible for coding, claims management, insurance follow-up, A/R, and self-pay collections.

Responsibilities
  • Code and/or review diagnoses, co-morbidities, complications, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Apply current CPT, HCPCS, and other applicable coding systems.
  • Review medical records for accurate and compliant coding in accordance with CMS guidelines and current reimbursement policies.
  • Stay current with coding, compliance, and reimbursement requirements.
  • Identify coding and compliance issues and provide accurate coding guidance to providers.
  • Implement new coding guidelines and recommend strategies to improve coding accuracy and reimbursement.
  • Manage and follow up on insurance A/R and outstanding claims.
  • Post insurance and self-pay payments.
  • Assist with self-pay collections and account follow-up.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification preferred.
  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
