Billing Manager – Cardiology & Office-Based Lab (OBL)

We are a growing cardiology practice with an expanding Office-Based Lab (OBL) seeking an experienced Billing Manager to lead and optimize our revenue cycle operations while supporting day-to-day practice management.

This is a key leadership role for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working across both clinical and administrative workflows.

***This is an onsite position, with the opportunity for occasional remote work based on demonstrated performance, reliability, and work ethic.***

Position Overview

The Billing Manager will oversee and actively perform billing functions for both the clinic and OBL. This role requires strong expertise in cardiology billing, collaboration with internal staff and external billing partners, and involvement in operational workflows to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and perform end-to-end medical billing and revenue cycle processes

  • Oversee billing operations within athenaOne (athenahealth)

  • Coordinate and collaborate with offsite billing personnel

  • Ensure accurate coding, charge capture, and claim submission

  • Monitor and resolve claim denials, rejections, and AR issues

  • Perform monthly reporting, analytics, and financial tracking

  • Conduct routine audits to ensure compliance and optimize revenue

  • Work closely with providers and staff on documentation and coding accuracy

  • Assist with scheduling workflows and daily clinic operations

  • Support process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and collections

Qualifications

  • Required:

    • Experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management

    • Proficiency with athenaOne / athenahealth

    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

    • Ability to manage multiple workflows independently

  • Preferred:

    • Experience in cardiology billing

    • Knowledge of peripheral vascular coding and cath lab procedures

    • Familiarity with Office-Based Lab (OBL) billing

    • Experience working with both in-house and outsourced billing teams
